Ducati Days, The Art of Corse, is going to be a fantastic event with the chance to get the most from your Ducati, and to develop your own riding technique at an event designed to show why Ducati “is engineered by the stopwatch and designed for the racetrack”. Not wishing to be negative.... £495????   or £100 for 3 safety-car controlled parade laps   £50 to be a 'spectator :o :o WTF??? |

I'm with you - how best to kill a brand and bring back 'them and us' attitude to Ducatis and those that ride them... |
Don't think i'll be going!! And i've already done a track day on the MotoGp dircuit. |
Is it £495 for Saturday only?:o |
Quote:
Full weekend tickets only (as in both Sat and Sun) available at the moment. |
A limited number of GUEST Tickets will be available to purchase on the day at the main security gate. So quick book yours now before they sell out of the 80,000 £50 tickets to get in   Family freindly then, Leave the Wife and future Ducati riders at home or cough up £150 |
I have to agree with many of these replies. I don't fancy the track day but did think a parade lap might be a fun thing to do. I guess I'd have estimated that it might be £20 or £30. £100?! No thanks. |
Saturday is by the looks of it a CSS school day which is £395 on its own isn't it? Anyway, I can't go now I don't have a Duke so that saves £495! :D |
Hmmmm; who is doing the training on the sat? what is the format? Pupil to instructor ratio? These are a few of the things I would like to know prior to making a DeSCsion on booking......... and I was asked over the weekend if I wanted to attend. Not too sure yet. |

cant see it being a CSS type thing, 240 spaces?! Love the comment that non Ducati riders will lutst to be there!! Brand man totally up his own arse!! Think they need to get a grip, recession, what recessions?! truthfully I feel for the dealers on this; they will have to tow party line...good value...event to be at...etc etc and yet if I was one of them I'd be thinking where do my non-new ducati owners sit in all this?! I look forward to seeing all the pics of the full grandstands.... ;) |
Putting my membership secretary hat on.... Will we, as an affiliated club, be given the opportunity to have a club-display/stand, to recruit new members etc.? If so, I assume we will be given a suitable number of tickets so we can man-it? Martin |

According to DuN: The weekend’s event will be laid out as follows for the Riders, and trade stands in the paddock and talks available to everyone with a ticket. • Day 1 – Saturday 21 May • This day has been split into 2 styles your customer can choose either: • TRAINING Or • TRACK DAY • TRAINING will be offered under the tutelage of The California Superbike School. The day will begin on the National circuit and will then switch to the new International circuit after lunch to continue. • The Training day consists of 3 classroom sessions and 5 track sessions assisted on track by CSS Coaches. The focus of this training format is to work on areas such as Entry Speed, Throttle Control and Steering Input making a smoother rider and to ensure your customer gets the most from their Ducati • Limited to 90 spaces (3 groups of 30) • TRACKDAY will begin on the ‘International’ circuit running out of the all new Silverstone ‘Wing’ pits. Please note: Registration and welcome will still take place at the National Pit Garages • They will be split into one of 3 groups dependant on ability and preference at time of booking: Novice, Intermediate and Expert (subject to availability) • If they wish is to dial themselves in ready for the GP circuit on Sunday then we can help then do this. We have on-track instructors who can help for a session and we will also be changing over after lunch to the National circuit. • Limited to 150 riders (3 groups of 50) • We are running 2 tracks, on the Saturday, the National and the new International track (previously called Southern) so we can swap over at lunch time allowing all Riders to learn the full Moto GP circuit (minus 2 corners) in smaller manageable chunks. We may not be able to satisfy all requests for Training as limited in numbers to keep Coach to Pupil ratio favourable • Day 2 – Sunday 22 May will be all 240 riders (3 groups of 80) on the full Moto GP circuit. Run from the National Pit Garages • They will be split into one of 3 groups dependant on ability and preference at time of booking: Novice, Intermediate and Expert (subject to availability) • We have on-track instructors from California Superbike School who can help your customer for a session and we will also be offering expert advice from instructors in the pits so they can come and have a chat at any time! Parade Lap 1-2pm (time subject to change) 2 or 3 laps of full circuit with controlled speed and safety cars. We are aiming to break a World Record for the most Ducati on track at one time.... this will be a sight to be seen (and heard!) . All those with a Rider ticket will also have to note if they want to take part in Parade Lap on the Booking Form as we need to run additional Health and Safety checks for this event |
OMG, Thats my name off the list at my dealers, Ducati have had enough of my hard earned cash over the years, this is just an insult in my mind, £300 i would have thought about it but not at this price, i have done Silverstone full circuit last year, for half the price, and even £100 to parade round behind safety cars is a joke, i can think of better things to spend £500 quid on, Sorry Ducati but i think your bean counters need to re think your pricing. |
Quote:
Totaly agree, will be happy to have my bayliss on the stand for the day but not if i have to pay for the privalige |
I have more info from DUK but just posted up the relevant info regarding price - I think Ozz's post is the more detailed doc that went with it; it was a dealer release that we (DSC) get copied in on. As for training, it is a CSS day and this will be tailored per rider. So as Ozz says this is a good value weekend if you look at it from that perspective, but not if you think this is a trackday ... which it isn't... As far as I understand things: Yes the DSC will have a stand. Yes we will get an allocation of tickets to man that stand. Yes there will be guest tickets for those that supply bikes for the Historial display. |
Why should the price be the same whether you are doing a training day on Saturday or just the Trackday or have I missed something? I've just booked 2 trackdays with BMW at Knockhill for 130 per day & that includes a demo ride on an s1000rr, tuition if required, bsb girls to drool over etc. I know a BMW is not the same as a duke but it's still a premier brand. |
Quote:
ar see, positive spin...sure every dealer will have similar view (probably on the comms which waqs sent out) and if presented that way, and you're in the market for a CSS day, maybe....maybe that is if you have a Ducati and you dont want your wife/mate/old fella to come along;) do CSS normally have 30 out on track each session? If they do, its not excatly close-coaching as that means if there are 10 they all have 9 pupils to monitor, teach, feedback cynic hat on - I wonder who the tickets with DSC names on them will go to  |
Quote:
I think Ant answerd that question Paul "Yes we will get an allocation of tickets to man that stand. Yes there will be guest tickets for those that supply bikes for the Historial display." I am assumimg once he knows how many tickets are allocated and who will be dispaying a bike, and who will be manning the stand then we will know, best bet is to wait and see, or offer your stand manning services ahead of time :) |
Quote:
yep got that Paul. I'm sure that all they will go to.. |
Quote:
Yea that is messed up pricing, OK I see a CSS on Sat and full circuit on Sun £500. But if you choose track day only £500 NOOOooo. And 80 riders per group on Sun, I know its a big circuit but 80 No Sunday only tickets ? I think maybe there will be if they cant fill all of sat + the grandstands. I really dont understand this at all, its a TOP chance for Ducati UK to sell its brand, show off, demonstrate etc and they restrict entry ???? WTF " I'm thinking of buying a new Ducati, certainly sir that will be £50" I'm so disapointed in what could be such a great event. PS: Send me a picture of your Ballis Paul, that'll save me a few quid to look at it. Craig |
I could understand say 320 for the two days on track but not 495 & 50 to spectate is certainly not going to encourage new wanna be Duke riders. Can't comment on the 80 people on track as I've not done Silverstone but it does sound a lot. This is why DSC should be getting together with nolimits to provide an alternative duke TD event. |
Sorry but to pay £1000 pounds for myself & cathy to go on track, irrelivent of the CSS is just not justifiable in the present economic climate, so i am afraid i will be giving that part of it a miss. As for the £50 entry for the weekend including food, nice idea if you are staying over for the weekend, but not if you are only going to be able to get there for part of one of the day's, that one I will have to think about. I know it is the first of it's kind and has no history of what you get for your money etc, who you will be able to see from the GP world from Ducati??, there will not be any Factory WSBK team there either. I wish DUK all the best, maybe there will be a differant formatt next year, we will just have to wait and see. This is not meant to be a Moaning thread, but the reality for some of us is we just can not afford it :-( Roll on the DSC trackday at Cadwell later this year :-) Chris:burn: |
Beerrllimeyyyy !!! Thats very steep - good luck to them moving the tickets. I accept the value argument from the CSS perspective but Im struggling to get my head round the value in £50 for getting in and £100 for three demo laps. Thought for the day...me, MJS, etc did the ducati racing school at Imola on their bikes, their fuel, 1 instructor per 3 people, and it was less than £500 including flights ! |
Quote:
Actually Paul, I have no say whatsoever on who gets what tickets - I may even have to pay for my own ticket to man the DSC stand on the day, just like I will pay for my DSC membership again this year even though I'm the chairman! If there are any more tickets available than we need to man the stand, then there will be a draw for them and members will get them. |
Quote:
glad to hear it, that the MT (or whatever it is called thesedays) has already agreed to have this kind of draw ala the old days with the GP. If someone is trawling their bike there AND manning the event its right they get a ticket, otherwise lets have the membership see some benefit (for once) for the fees that have been paid. will there be a thread, or an email, or letter to register? |
Quote:
Too right Nat... and the lunch was top quality :) |
Quote:
I'd like to think that whoever volunteers to give up their time (when they could be out enjoying their own bikes) to man the stand etc. would get their entry tickets provided. Martin |
Quote:
normally Martin yep would agree, but like all these things, how long do you have to spend on there to say thats why you went; ie supporting the club rather than free entry then disappearing off? Spend an hour on the stand - would that qualify for a freebie? What is 'reasonable'? It's tough to know why its riled me so much; that we have lost our trackday and this was hailed as a bit of a replacement (whether directly said or not)? That most longstanding Ducati riders I know wont be able to afford or justify that kind of cost? That I'd be charged for just a couple of hours of chat and banter as I drop in (as I do at other TDs) to see mates taking part? Or that what was being hailed as a Ducati get together is actually a revenue generating event rather than break even at best and widen the appeal and thank all those Ducatisti that still spend cash in the strapped economic times... Conscious I'll be coming accross as negative at best, bitter and twisted at worst, on this thread and also my FB discussion, and genuinely hope its a success so those who do feel its worth paying enjoy the event. time for me to step off the box I think, I'm sure you'll all enjoy it :) |
Is it April 1st? - this is not right :sic: |
Bit steep for parade laps and guests as for track time it does depend on what you end up getting In July 2000 Honda UK treated me and about 1000 others to several laps Free of Charge around the Silverstone circuit for National Fireblade day. There were many top BSB and TT riders around on the day and also Tadao Baba was guest of honour, bit like having Tamburini along for the day for many of us. Hence me thinking Guest and parade lap prices a bit steep |
Someone at HQ must surely be reading this. And beginning to realise that they have got it pretty badly wrong. |
Hopefully there are some big announcements to be made by ducati uk. There are no rounds of motogp or wsbk on the 21-22 may. As it stands, I like the idea off a css track school, but the format would have to the normal instructor pupil ratio. And my interest is only because I intend on doing level 3 and maybe 4 of css this summer. Confirmation on the group sizes for the sunday would be good, and who is running the trackday sessions. I do have prefference to TD organisers, and certain organisers would make me not book. Would i pay fifty quid to watch a trackday, no chance. Would I pay fifty quid for 2 nights of camping, live bands, food n drink with mates n other ducati nuts, chatting to dolly brollies, fun games n competions, freebies from perts people, a massive bonfire to sing gingangooley around, and hot dry weather - yes. jeeze, I am dreaming again. |
Quote:
Paul - I hear you and share your sentiments regarding people manning a stand. I'm sure in the goodness of time we'll find out how many tickets DUK will allow us - assuming they do - to man the stand, and then it will be a case of people volunteering, and committing to do their fair share. Regards to pricing - I guess that £500 for 2 full days on track including track, including meals etc. is, whilst on the high side, is possibly not sooo outrageous. What does strike me as expensive is £100 for 3 parade laps and £50 to go in and spectate. Now I know that includes lunch etc. but surely there should/could be an option to go in for less/free without the food ticket?? |
Quote:
It was less than £50 for a Moto GP 3 day ticket last year:rolleyes: Me thinks DUK are looking to pay this years rent on the new HQ with this event:lol: |
You could be right Gordon when the sum of £500 gets discussed I consider what other options I could have for that sort of money Such as 3 Trackdays on the Arena GP circuit between Easter and the Ducati event, two of which are on Bank Holidays, or just do the Bank Holiday ones and save over £150 and get the Arena circuit on Both days Blast now I'm telling everybody my plans :) |

Remember that keV...what a sight ! |

Yes, and we've already said that all of the "deals" that we get with DUK will be fairly distributed - I think it was in the meeting notes in the DSC section. Not sure how things will be done *if* we get any freebies at all, but we will use the message board in the first instance and follow it up with an email to all registered members. |
I don't see this as a reason to have a knock at the DSC. DUK are obviously aiming the weekend at really rich people, that's their prerogative. I hope it works for the brand, although personally it puts me off & after being loyal for 20 years it makes me wonder about jumping. I have put up with a lot of stick about buying dukes because of the branding rather than ability & this might just be the final straw. |
Don't worry guys, for the common DSC member we will be doing other things ;) |
