with 18 laps there's room for tactics!

I've been thinking that with 18 laps we'll have time to employ some crafty race tactics. So I've invested a great deal of time thinking up different scenarios and race plans.

Now I know it's probably not a great idea to share my race tactics with my competitors but this is about the best I've come up with.

First, Make sure I don't run out of petrol!

Secondly, The most important thing, and this is the clever bit, Stick my fingers up each time I lap Mr Appleby!

and thats about it really,

Matt

You forgot one... Check your tyre pressures!

skidlids 09-Mar-2011 11:31

my main tatic has been to improve my counting, In the past I found counting up to 12 known to many as a Dozen but not a Bakers dozen which I understand is more than 12 got me through most situations, but over the winter I have attended special classes and now have the ability to count up to 20 just to make sure i'm in a good position to deal with 18 laps :)
Now to make use of this new found ability I need to make sure I don't get laped by pulling my finger out as soon as the Red lights go off :p

I know the bike can do 18 laps thats not the problem, not sure about the rider though, so my tactics are to avoid getting lapped by any other class B bike, other than that its game on :)

I think that anyone not doing sub 1m3s laps will be lapped.

Does that involve use of toes as well? Isn't that a bit dangerous??

this is a big IF,,,, but IF you consistantly lap at the lap record and IF I consistantly lap at the lap record, I'll be right behind you after 18 laps! so it is possible that you could get lapped yourself! I'll definately stick my fingers up if that happens, All in good fun you understand!

I would have thought that would be a fairly good lap time in the WET, so whoevers doing the lapping must have some Big *******ks

numbskull 09-Mar-2011 13:06

I think my main tactic will be to try not to crash on the first corner whilst overtaking everone!

ells 09-Mar-2011 13:16

Tis going to be interesting to see how everyone does.

Mark.

Light rain due about 3pm, so we should have one dry race, and a slightly damp one.

mat2hew 09-Mar-2011 15:22

UYes I went wrong twice like that last year

MMm, I wonder if some of the guy's with smaller ali tanks will have enough fuel in them to last the race & still have the regulation 2 litres left in the tank at the end of a race ;-)

Chris:burn:

One of my tasks for Friday is to try to figure out how much fuel to load up with.

Tactics...............They make your breath smell nice. :D

Nice little job for Bernie on Saturday then :)

mat2hew 09-Mar-2011 19:08

the best tactics,,,

step 1, file a couple of numbers off of competitors bike when nobody is looking ,

step 2, report dodgy looking frame Number to officials 10 mins before race.

bradders 09-Mar-2011 22:08

arrr, tactics....follow craig until clearways lap 18 then stuff it up the inside.

Simple
