Making a paddock stand

Hi,

Decided to make a single sided paddock stand to fit my 996 as I don't have one at the moment and the material only cost me £12.
I'm just after a little info on spindle diameter and length that it goes into the hub.

Thanks for any info,

James

Done the first prototype of my paddock stand(no laughing at the back)and everything seems fine except the spiggot that fits into the hub only goes in 40mm.
I've used 25mm bar for the spiggot and was wondering what diameter other paddock stands use and how far they should go into the hub.

you should work for Ducati; those welds are better than the 1098 swingarm ones!!

Chaz 21-Mar-2011 22:55

The spiggot needs to be a snugg fit in the hub or the bike will fall over;)

jd77 22-Mar-2011 19:14

Took the spiggot off today and turned down in the lathe to 22mm and its a real good fit.

It looks fantastic. Great skills. You should make more. I'll buy one!

I think I will refine the next stand and post up another picture, looking at inline roller blade wheels for the next one.
