DD Snetterton

What a day, it was wet, actualy it was more than wet :( first day on the new layout, practice was not so bad as it was quiet dry, Qualy started dry but into lap 3 the heavens opened and dumped buckets of water.

Race one, did i mention it was wet, well race 1 was wetter than wet, was not sure if we were racing in a river or on a track, could have sworn i saw marshals with fishing rods :) lap 3-4 red flag, no seriouse injurys to anyone as far as i know, sat on the grid waiting for restart 15 mins in some realy heavy rain, boots full of water, leathers heaver than the bike :( did i mention it was wet :( 1 warm up lap for what it was worth as i dont think you could get any heat into the tyres in all that water, then 5 lap race to the flag, most people took it easy appart from those who can actualy walk on water anyway :) I think Phil the drill had an outboard motor attached to his bike as he was storming round to finish 4th, well done phil. if fact well done to everyone who finished the race, Good racing all round. looking forward to tomorrow and hoping its going to be a dry.....

bradders 18-Jun-2011 22:12

dry one would be nice, and phils 4th cements his top novice status ;)

if I were religious I'd be praying for dry tomorrow so I can do a better job of coverting my 3rd class B qually position

PeteB 18-Jun-2011 23:43

Sounds like a fun weekend so far.............:D

A well done to Phil for a 4th:) :)

Dementor 19-Jun-2011 08:52

Yep a big well done to Phil. And all those who raced in such terrible conditions. Paul ya praying was for nowt lol

Gbyte666 19-Jun-2011 12:44

Well done indeed Phil, great finish in terible conditions.
And well done Paul on your best qual so far as well.
Now what do I do with all these bits left over from my bike, spares ?

Craig

What he lost on the straights he made up in the twisties, I passed him on the straights but couldn't match him in the bends. well done Paul very well earned and deserved. :)

bradders 19-Jun-2011 20:27

thanks guys, my second win was as hard as the first ;)

few thanks:
Roy for convincing me it was me not the gearing ;)
The Dentist for being gentle...
Dallas for the breakfast
The whole Oxon lot for the sheer quality entertainment on Fri night!
Neal for the sliders
The Palmers for their encouragement...and Dallas and Skids for their words of wisdom ;)

Couple apologies...
Neal for the near T boning - I promise to sort my gear change out for next time so I dont get it stuck in 4th when I need 2nd and cant stop!
Nicola for my grumpiness before the race - thanks for giving me space
Ron for reacting to what he said after taking it very personally - you're still wrong but no excuse for me to get a little heavy

No excuses or apolgies for the win!!! I hope I've found my mojo and cant wait for Cadwell trackday for some fun with mainly road riding mates around our favourite circuit...then Pembrey two weeks later ;)

Now starting a collection, with some effort and a large slice of luck a couple more to come....

PHIL-THE-DRILL 19-Jun-2011 22:14

Well done Paul a well deserved win !

Gbyte666 20-Jun-2011 00:51

Well done Paul, all of your commitment / dedication / determination has paid off. Could'nt have happend to a nicer bloke. :-)

I was shocked to be sitting at the restart seeing hail bouncing off the tarmac! When that restart came the first corner was just blanketed out by water coming off the track and the rain coming down.

Well down to all who braved the conditions hope thats all the water I see at a race weekend this year.

Bike booked in at Dyno for a quick check after problems getting off the line in race 2 :(

Bradders, an opinion cannot be wrong. It is a personal view. The fact that quite a few other people shared the same view suggests maybe it is not too far off the mark. You are quick, and I congratulate that. Contrary to your name calling, I have encouraged you all along. However, you are not leaving anything to spare for your or others mistakes, and one of your moves on me was just plain dangerous. The fact that one of your mistakes also resulted in you hitting someone else again goes some way to backing up my view. You have speed, but just try to reign yourelf in a little before you put someone in hospital. You have the talent to get there without the bullying.

Well done on the win, I'll shake your hand at Pembrey.

Bionicle 20-Jun-2011 12:40

(Not pointing any fingers at anyone so do not read in to this something that is not there)

I think that some stuff should be kept off the forum, its easy for people to read in to things and come to wrong conclusion,

We have a DD race committee, if someone has a genuine complaint about another rider then i think it should be delt with through that committee and not disolve into accusations founded or unfounded on the forum.

bradders 20-Jun-2011 13:25

edited to remove a long comment, cant be arsed with it now. I race like others around me; close and focussed on going forward.

Cant wait for Pembrey, should be fun

+1 on that

When things are written in forums on emotive points things so easily get understood. Lets not get into a Bun fight.

Lol tell me about it. What a difference a day makes.

ells 21-Jun-2011 08:29

Going to be an interesting season with all those people within striking distance.

:)

bradders 21-Jun-2011 09:49

shame Alan has to drop so many good points...think it puts him 6th and everyone else up one spot as they all have 2 dropped from current results...need some wins Alan! Pembrey could be on....

Bionicle 21-Jun-2011 09:59

I think its a little close to call at this stage anything can happen, this is what makes DD so exciting, congrats to all the front runners, and those pushing hard to catch up. seeing myself in 10th at this stage in the season is heart warming for me, its where i had told myself i wanted to be at the end of the season.

Yep a 2nd 2 x 3rds a 4th and 3 x 5th's and leading Race 1 when they stopped it.

Guess consistency doesn't pay

only half the season gone so far Alan ;) You're my sneaky tip for the title

Sorted 21-Jun-2011 18:06

Cheers Paul :)

That would get very good odds though...... Top 5 maybe?

Anything better than last years 8th will see me:lol:

Gbyte666 21-Jun-2011 18:33

Best I get to some rounds in then if I want to get out of 14th and stop getting calls from drunken racers at night... :-)

DOH

yep you better had....my missus will soon spend that cash ;)

think it will depend on how Ron gets thru the rest of the season. He needs to start dropping out of the top 4 and Kev/Phil/Alan picking up a few more wins. Reckon it will go to the wire tho...very entertaining all round

If I can keep it on the black stuff, I'll be there making everyone work for their places. :D

expect nothing less ;) be nice to spend the rest of the year a little closer to you too, see if I can cope with that extra 'race' craft some of you guys have

Lol Racecraft, I don't think so. In the first part of race 2 I had some damn good dices with Hugh, close but safe. Engine has to come out again tho' as I still have an oil leak problem.

I hope that oil leak wasn't a result of the grass tracking :(
Have to tell you that I was filled with dred when I looked back over my shoulder and saw you. I knew it was a case of 'when' not 'if' you would come by. My past experience racing with you at Mallory was that when you went past you kept on going off into the distance!

Sorted 22-Jun-2011 14:47

My cracked crankcase is terminal :(

But on a lighter note I picked up a 1995 600ss bottom engine for £50 on ebay with good crankcases :)

It has been shipped to Richie at Louigi Moto and I am trying to get my bike down there on Monday (in the middle of moving home & office so no time for me to do anything myself).
Hopefully, the bike will be ready for Pembrey (otherwise I'll have to drop those 2 races).
At least I'd be dropping zilch and not 22pts.

Leading the Championship by 6pts at the mo has made me :D but it would be a shame to perhaps score the most points in a season and not win cuz of having to drop 22.
The same happened last year.. Completed and scored in every round/race and handed back 12.

Never mind rules are rules and I'm having fun :frog:

I understand totally how frustrating that might be, but I never pay any attention total points as it means nothing. Stop looking at that table and you will start seeing what you have to do to win the champsionship.

Just get your head down and win a race or 2 and the rest will follow no doubt. If I get to a few practice days that is what I shall be doing ;)

ells 22-Jun-2011 17:24

Alan,
I think it will hurt the other guys more when they cant start or finish a race! Lot of top runners have already used their drop two rounds!

Rather be in your position than anyone elses at the moment. But that can all change at Pembrey.

You never know whats round the corner.

Mark.
