New Streetfighter Owner

Last week I traded in my 04 Aprilia RSV1000R for a 6 month old Streetfighter and am loving it! What a great bike. Amazed there is so little on the forum though and it is spelt wrong as well. Bit disappointing. :(

skidlids 03-Oct-2011 23:53

Well spotted, I posted in there recently about the release of the 848 version and didn't even notice it was spelt incorrectly
maybe there will be a few more posting in the STREETFIGHTER section once the 848 SF is available in the dealers.
I find my 1100 Monster hard work when its near its max speed hate to thing what its like when your on a Streetighter travelling at its top speed, aerodynamic helmet required I presume

ask Roy - he'd know ;)

welcome back :)

So what made you get rid of the RSV for the Streetfighter? Just fancied a change, another Ducati, or wanted a more "naked" street bike?

Was getting very tired of the sporty riding position so started looking at something a bit more upright that still looked good. Started looking at the Honda CB1000R and found a well priced 2011 bike at £7000 that I almost went for. Thought about dipping well into the savings for a heavily reduced MV Brutale 910R but when I went for a look the last one had sold. Started looking at the 1078R then but saw Ducati Aylesbury had a 2011 Streetfighter for £9500. When I saw the bike at the NEC in 2008 I thought it looked awesome so I gave them a ring and they offered me £3000 for the RSV which was £500 more than I was offered against the Honda. Just had to be the Duke in the end!

Been spending a few pennies. DP carbon fender, hugger and exhaust shield and an Evotech tail tidy. Also Mivv carbon cans on the way. Looking forward to hearing the bike with them on. Not many Streetfighter owners seem to be shopping on ebay I'm getting some real bargains!

Got some Mivv cans now and a K&N air filter. Anyone tell me if I need a chip for the ECU or will the electrickery work it out for itself?

Yellowduke 28-Dec-2011 20:54

Splurged out on some R&G kit so now all crash bunged up and protective grills for the rad and oil cooler. Fitted the Evotech tail tidy at last but need to put the number plate on tomorrow and see if I can find a small red reflector somewhere. Have a Ventura rack and luggage now and did a test fit yesterday to make sure the tail tidy won't block the rack. Just need to loosen the indicators to fit the rack which isn't a problem.
Still need to clean the Mivv cans and fit them and I have a DP clutch pressure plate and a nice open cover to go on as well. K&N filter is in already.

Nice looking bike.

I have the evotech tail tidy also, not fitted it yet, need to get a slightly smaller plate first. Your bike looks lovely :)

Yellowduke 02-Feb-2012 14:51

The original number plate hanger is a bit of a pain to take off but the Evotech tail tidy fits well. The only wiring to cut is to the number plate light but shouldn't be a problem to return to standard when the time comes. I have a Ventura rack on mine now and the Evotech works with that although you have to unfasten the indicators first.

Womble247 06-Feb-2012 01:27

fitted my tail tidy today, I see what you mean about it being a pain to disassemble the original bracket! I didn't need to snip any wires with mine, although the LED is not currently working as I wired it the wrong way round and stupidly didn't test it before bolting the whole thing back together lol. Should be an easy fix even if it is a pain in the bum to take the tail plastic off to get to the wires.

Makes a huge difference to the back end. Why they have to go and put on such huge items at the factory I don't know. Did you get a red reflector with your tidy? I have a stick on one on my number plate as my tidy was used off ebay.

Womble247 06-Feb-2012 17:36

yup, have not fitted it tho, will bung it on in 3yrs for the mot lol

Yellowduke 26-Feb-2012 16:44

Have been busy this morning in the garage fitting some clutch bling. First on was a nice DP clutch pressure plate and stainless springs. Then an open cover to finish off.
[IMG][/IMG]

Then fitted an Oberon clutch slave. Went for black to go with the DP sprocket cover.

Yellowduke 26-Feb-2012 17:01

Was a bit at odds with luggage options for the bike and in the end I opted to go with Ventura kit.
[IMG][/IMG]

For anyone interested in how the brackets are mounted they are bolted to the frame as in the two pics below using longer bolts and the OE nut. Little bit fiddly on the exhaust side due to lack of space.
Left side, you can see the bolt head at the top of the spring.

Right side, you can see the bolt head at the top of the carbon.
[IMG][/IMG]

I had to unfasten my indicators to get the mounting bars positioned. They bolt into the number plate mounts. I used my own bolts for some extra length bearing in mind I have an Evotech number plate bracket on there.

This is the Ventura video for the Streetfighter.

I used it with a Ventura Aero Spada bag to go to the Ogri Kick Start Rally last month and it was great. Very stable and didn't effect the handling at all. Very pleased.

russell greenie 26-Feb-2012 19:41

Real nice looking bike. Where did you get the cans from?

Yellowduke 26-Feb-2012 22:55

Cans are Mivv Gp Carbon I picked up on Ebay along with everything else. Saved a bundle on everything especially the Ventura kit.

GRINGO58 02-Mar-2012 15:31

I've been waiting since December for my Termis to show up. Not impressed it is taking so long. Apparently they are in the UK now, just waiting on Sycamore Ducati to let me know they have arrived and for them to arrange to come collect my bike and fit them.

GRINGO58 02-Mar-2012 17:36

bit strange saw new bike 31st jan ordered all the bits they came 2 weeks later first ride out today.boy is it fun!

Womble247 02-Mar-2012 18:27

will give them a call tomoz to see what is going on :)

Yellowduke 30-Jun-2012 10:45

Bit more shopping done. CRG Arrow mirrors, Barracuda screen and carbon side panels. Hopefully they will all be delivered and waiting for me next time I'm home. Missed out on a set of termis on ebay. Gutted and relieved at the same time since I wanted them but couldn't really afford them just now. :(
