Ducati Desmo Class 1c Championship

DUCATI DESMO CLASS 1C CHAMPIONSHIP

Ducati Desmo Class 1C is a new race series run with the Hottrax Supercup and is essentially for 10 year old bikes of large capacity such as the 916 or 888 etc. Organised by the Ducati Sporting Club and run by Hottrax, it has it's own regulations.

Provisional detail are:
  • The motorcycle must be based on either a water cooled Ducati twin cylinder motorcycle with 4 valves per cylinder produced between 1988 and March 2002 or an air-cooled 2 valve Ducati twin cylinder produced between 1992 and March 2005, displacing no more than 997cc.
  • The machines used are allowed limited modifications. Most modifications are only allowed for safety reasons or to allow older generations of the Desmo family of motorcycles to remain competitive with the newer machines.
For the avoidance of doubt the following production machines will be entitled to enter the series:
  • 4 Valve 748: - Any model with the exception of the 748RS
  • 851: - Any production model
  • 888: - Any production model
  • 916: - Any model with the exception of 916 Racing and SPS
  • 996: - Any model with the exception of SP, SPS, R & RS
  • 2 Valve 748cc & 904cc single spark engine SS & Monster, including both carburettor and injection models.
  • 803cc single spark SS & Monster manufactured prior to March 2008.
  • 992cc twin spark engine SS, Monster & Multistrada manufactured prior to March 2005
Riders must be members of the Ducati Sporting Club to enter.

Damn, just sold my 888 :(

But I do have a 800 engine that will fit in my SS frame...................

Can we use wets?

I am up for a couple of rounds.

Should make it power to weight & do away with all the other rules! much easyer to control more bikes around to fit the class.

It would be a far more atractive class to people that like to customise there bikes, also there are a lot of Ducati's out there that have unknown engine specs so to ban sps's & such is ********.

And my 2002 900SSie track bike project is still for sale.
In fact it's still in storage.
90% complete.
Loads of spares, with a V5.

Will get it out of storage soon and put up some photos.

A few of you have seen it/him/her ......

Watch this space!

Interesting, how many rounds and is it run in the golden era superbike race meaning you get points for that as well as the 1C championship ?

Cranker V2 19-Oct-2011 14:23

Interesting indeed, once full details released I wil decide on this or DD class B. Info would be good on the following.......

Wheel spec
Swing arm spec
Yokes spec

What are limited mods? I have a feeling I would be excluded for flowed heads, big valves, overbore, hybrid injection system, mag wheels..............

A good series anyway.

As far as I know...

1. there will be a hp limit
2. tyres are free at this stage, so you can run slicks if you desire

If you want to get a copy of the rules or any more info, get in touch with Kev via desmodue@ducatisportingclub.com to register your interest.

Just a bit of Background before moving onto the finer points
There was a thread recently started on the forum about having a Class C and contributed to by members that were looking to race Ducatis other than DD.
It has always been possible to race bigger Ducatis with various race clubs and even at selected BSB and International meetings, be it in Sound of Thunder, Minitwins, Thunderbike, Streetstock, Streetfighter or the 848 Challange.

For 2012 it looks like a couple of clubs are offering another couple of oppotunities to race a older Ducati in the form of a Classic Superbike class based on bikes from at least 10 years ago.
One of these clubs is Hottrax who will again be Hosting the Existing Desmo Due Class A and Class B series
They in turn offered us the oppotunity to add bikes to there Proposed Grid, a Grid that already catered for the likes of a Ducati 998, a 996RS or a 996SPS etc across two classes, with the class entered being based on the Spec of the bike.

So to add a 3rd Class to the grid and have it under the Desmo Due banner we considered keeping it in line with the DD ethos, which is the basis for the choice of bikes and many of the rules.
The 4 valve bikes are all based on pre Testastretta production models therefore having a heritage over 10 years old.

And although a lot later Aircooled 2-valve models have been incorporated again their heritage goes back many years. A 1000DS looks just like a 1999 750SSie and the use of Twinspark goes back even futher with BOTT racing

As such the Classic Superbike grid will consist of 3 classes that should cater for all Ducati race bikes over 10 years old.
So if you want to race a Aircooled 2-valver, a 748, 853, 916, 996, SPS, RS there should be a class for you even if you find yourself sharing a grid with a RC45, a R7, a RSV, a ZXR or a SRAD

You have to be a DSC member to join 1C, do you have to pay the DD fee as well like the A & B ?
£25 DSC
£25 DD

Craig

skidlids 19-Oct-2011 19:25

Yes sort of will be the answer there Craig as DD membership is £20 then there will be Hottrax Membership at £30

Or if you Join the Hottrax class you can do it at the same price if you want to retain your number

SOLO RIDER REGISTRATION AND CLUB MEMBERSHIP ** - £75
(OPTIONAL SOLO RIDER REGISTRATION)
** SOLO RIDER REGISTRATION = PERMANENT RACE NUMBER AND PRIORITY ENTRIES, (NOT COMPULSORY)

Hasa the horsepower limit for class 1C been decided yet? I am sure I have seen 120bhp quoted, though I have seen specs for 996s at 123bhp and know of 996s's running at 125bhp. Would a 130bhp limit be acceptable?

Gbyte666 13-Nov-2011 14:59

Oh Lordy Mike, your on the floor with 50BHP

Craig

Cranker V2 13-Nov-2011 15:34

44bhp to be exact..........................
