a bargain! Too good to miss this one. :D Got 18k mile 620 engine, ecu, t'bodies, airbox, swingarm, zorst headers, reg/rec, frame with v5 plus full loom still fitted - £260!! All running perfectly until large front ender made it salvage, allegedly :) Can't remember last time I had such a good deal - wouldn't take much to build a wet bike ;) |

Sounds like the one that wa on Ebay down in Sussex, I would have been bidding on it but knew Andy Challis had his eye on it Went for a Bargain Price |
yep it was Skids. Winning bidder didn't contact him, so he let me have it. Its mucky mind, like it lived in grease and oil! But perfect for spares |
Nice spot, the bay bargans are there. Bit posh having a wet bike though and a double push to scrut in the morning lol Craig |

When you do have a Wet and Dry bike under the same race numbers they need to be checked by different scrutineers just in case anything untoward should happen. And as we will be using the Hottrax Scrutineering cards this year Vin numbers will have to be entered on to them Just thought I would share that |
not that it worries me but if there is no vin? Assume ok as long as no vin exists, ie not tampered or removed? |
If not tampered with or removed the paint finish should be original, if powder coated it could be covering up where the VIN was. With my Ex V&M Racing CBR600 which had a New Frame provided by Honda Britian I took the receipt for the bike with me to NG meetings and had to produce it on more than one occasion. Sold that bike in 2000 and got a call from Humberside police about it 4 months ago. As the frame now has the VIN number from the original paperwork stamped on the headstock with traces of another VIN underneath. Some Dodgy people out there |
So will the headstock vin need to be visible, mines under last winters powdercoat? |
Well if people took the time to read their ACU rule book (or CD version) they would know that its within the power of a ATI trained Scrutineer to report any Erased or Altered frame or engine number to the Clerk of the Course who inturn Can exclude SUSPECT machines from the meeting Note it says erased not removed so this could include being covered over to make it un-readable ATI = Anti Theft Initiative Bernie Called in such a Scrutineer at the final Hottrax round at Snetterton and every bike had its details checked This bit has been in the front of every ACU rule book for about a decade now and as you need to enter it on the scrutineering card it should be posible for the number entered on the card to be checked against the one on the headstock |

In addition to Kev's reply below, the worst case scenario is that you will have to scrape back the powdercoating to reveal the number and then put some clear lacquer over the top. |

which is what I would be doing if mine was covered, no point in taking a risk; likely plod will be called and take bike. |

And is what Dallas will be doing with the VIN number we just found under his powder coating |
