1 year service ! Will be getting the 1 year service done next month on my 998 (4000miles) ,is there anything i should get done thats not on the list . or just leave it as the service book says ! I am thinking of getting the clutch fluid changed while its in ! |
Changing the fluids should be part of the service anyway you shoudln't need to ask them to change it :o |
As far as i am aware the 1 year service is a 12000 mile service so they should be changing your fork oil as well never mind the brake and clutch fluid. 1 Year or 12000 miles whichever comes first. |
1 year service is 6000 miles!! How many dukes do 12000 a year  |
How many actually do 6000 a year. Does that mean that a six month service is a 3000 mile service.???? [Edited on 14-6-2003 by sps955] |
I have done 4 thousand by next month & normaly i would have gone to ASSEN which is nearly another thousand from N I reland :D |
Sps my bike is 10 months old and has 6500 on the clock :D |
done 7k in 3.5 months!:o |
Looks like i have a low milage Duke then ! :D |
Totto talk to nelly he will be the man in the know. My 996 has only done 4800 in 3.5 years, so is this low mileage aswell? |
Most of the service schedule is based around mileage. 6k service is plugs, oil, filters, valves etc. 12k as the 6k plus fork oil, brake/clutch fluids, coolant and belts. 6k service is generally termed the annual service and 12k is two years. Even if you don't do 12k in two years, it's worth having the fluids changed as they degrade over time. You can get an idea of what's involved by checking your service book. It lists all the operations by mileage. btw.........IMO it's worth having the belts changed at 6k. Cheap insurance ;) |
Thanks Nelly ! I have read the service manual but was looking for advice like your's as to wether i should get more than whats listed done !! |
My 12000 miles service set me back £512! not even a please or thank you! Ducati Leeds rip-off. |
£500 for a 12k, sounds about right mate .... |
Not well up on the four valve bikes but 500 is too much. Not sure if your serious about the blueprint Weeksy (not sure what the term means any way). Change your lcutch fliud whiel your doing your brakes, every 2 years i normally advise. People neglect the clutch which is allways a bad idea when it comes to Ducati's. Kev |
ok so a brand new bike (in which each componant is within the manufactures spec is allready blueprinted)? My take on the word (i dont really know) is that each componant is changed to its optiuim (ie better than new) tolerance, so for example if the small end tolerance is 0.01 - 0.05mm then it should be 0.01, if its 0.02 its replaced. I would take this to mean better than new and involve not OEM parts as these only meet manufacturers tolerance. if i go out and buy a new rod it will come in anywhere between 0.01 and 0.05, so i cant use OEM parts, hence its mega expensive. I was looking at a blueprinted GSXR600 motor and the owner wanted 6 grand for it. must be mad like, but Ouch. Anyway we digress... Kev |
