Hi there from London Hi there guys! Its nice to see that there is a place for Ducati enthusiasts!!! The forum looks really nice! To introduce my self!My name is Nick and I come from Greece!I am currently living in London and I would like to obtain a drivers license for a motorcycle! So I was wondering if someone could provide some information about the cost etc... Nice to be here! I wish you all safe and sound cycle rides! |
Sorry can't he;p with advice as its 34 years since I did my test Just thought I'd say Hi |
No worries :) Thnx for the welcoming :) |
welcome. As for cost, probably best to speak to a local training school. I am relative new to biking, 5 or 6 years I think, but already the test is different to when I passed. It will depend a lot on your previous experience as well as how quickly you pick things up, Try Southern Rider Training. They are based South East and I used them. Good luck! :D |
just 34 years skids?! welcome aboard. Have a look on Motrocycle News website - they are bound to have links from there to what you need |
Thank you for the answers guys! I ll look into things and I will let you know! I hope its not too expensive:P As for experience I dont have any but I hope I ll catch up things fast as you say :P |

Thank you man :) Enjoy your rides :) Do you happen to know if I can go for the license without taking lessons? |
I believe you would need to do the CBT (compulsory basic training) which is a 1 day course. Classroom, some manouveurs in a carpark, and some supervised road riding. Very straightforward and almost everyone passes so you'll be fine. That allows you to ride a 125cc on your own for 2 years with L plates on, or have lessons on a 500 with an instructor. So, short term you could do the CBT and get riding a small bike within a day. I assume you would need the CBT before you could take the test, and I would recommend at least a couple of lessons to get used to UK roads and be "taught" how to pass the test. Being a good rider won't mean you pass, and passing won't mean you are a good rider! A few lessons will teach you "how to pass". Call a training school in the morning for more info though as I haven't read up on it for a few years and things change... |
