Anger Management

Alright....I know it's just a car, even worse it's a Volvo. It's quite a nice Volvo though, a C70 T5 convertible that I've had since new. Since I work a lot from home nowadays I haven't needed to use my car since the weekend, so it's been parked up down the road all week and I haven't even looked at it.

It's been parked outside a house where the owners, despite having one of the only houses in our quaint little part of town with off street parking for two cars, defend the road ouside their house with traffic cones, wheelie bins and all manner of small minded deterents on the rare occasions when one of their own cars isn't parked there.

I've just nipped out in the car to take my son and all his holiday luggage to the station, and what do you know...the drivers door has been comprehensively keyed :mad::mad: Damage? Shouldn't think I'll get any change out of £300.

It's the first time in quite a few years that I've suffered any vandal damage, but it makes me spit. The real bummer is that unless you catch someone at it red handed there is bugger all you can do. I'm pretty sure that I know who did it, but can I prove it ??? Of course not.

I'll knock on the door to ask if they've seen anyone and it'll be put down to kids no doubt, Funny thing is we had a spate of this sort of stuff a few years back that was so frequent that the police got involved and found that it was a vindictive adult resident (although not the people at this house). Apparently, according to the local Bill, it's more often territorial residents than kids.

Any anger management advice welcome...

Jools, Anger Managment. Im sure you could do with some after finding that out. How people can be so small minded,I have seen your parking situation 1st hand and its not easy for you all to find a space at the best of times, but to key the paint work is totally unecceptable . You never see or can catch the low life that do these things, because if we did, we could eradicate the little skits there and then (well at least brake some thing of there's) 4D

perhaps the DSC all regions should meet at your place one Sunday Jools? You tell us which house to park outside and we will oblige.
Or anybody got a beat up old vehicle to leave outside their house for a month?

great idea....I'll come up from the south coast for that!! Oh - and make sure you cone around their house so we can all park there....

Henners 01-Jul-2004 19:44

Just a thought .... what if it wasn't either of them? Just saying this because vigilante behaviour is never pretty and rarely reflects well on those involved.

Suggest you canvas all the folk in the street to find out if anyone saw anything.

rockhopper 01-Jul-2004 20:50

Go down to the car auctions and buy the cheapest car you can find. Take it home during the night and park it outside their house. Then throw the keys away.

guest1 01-Jul-2004 23:42

Anger management.
Don't get stressed. It's a car, so what.
Why would you want to get it re-sprayed/touched up for £300? You wanna get it re-sprayed so it looks nice when you go to it and drive round the in-laws/to town/out for the night etcetera.
Most of the time, you'll be on the move in it so no-one will notice anyhows.
Whatdaya think people will be saying "oooohhh, look at that keyed car, he must be a bad 'un"??
It's a piece of metal.
the petty small minded people who resort to these tactics are just that, petty and small minded. Rise above 'em. Most likely the people who did it will be doing all the stress and running themselves into cardiac arrest territory, so chill out and just wax over it.

But if it was yer bike, ..well that's different.

How about....because I worked hard all my life to get enough money to buy a car like that. I'm proud of it and want to keep it as nice as I can without other people wrecking it for me?

JACKO748S 02-Jul-2004 21:14

Bang on Jools!

"Don't get stressed"
"It's a piece of metal"

WTF!!! With attitudes like this now I know why this countries going down the tubes.

He paid good, hard earned money for the thing! Why shouldn't Jools get stressed? So a key scrape won't affect the re-sale value then????

It's hard to rise above these faceless monkeys and are they gonna think "Oooh look, he's risen above me, he must be good" Err I think not.

Jools - good luck, hope you find out the culprits, they are bang out of order.

Aaaaand breathe.........Phew.
Jacko.

Absa feckin lootly!!! What if you want to sell it as well???

KeefyB 03-Jul-2004 01:10

Jools,
Sorry to hear about your motor mate.I know how much it cost and what it means to you.
Scum that damage other peoples property like that are the lowest of the low.
Keep yer cool mate.

kwikbitch 03-Jul-2004 12:40

Yup...know how that feels mate..Had mine keyed in the car park at school.THEN...

Had bricks thrown at it by the kids from the school opposite when I went to work on my bike...
It's in at the minute being fixed...and the school wont do a damn thing about it. One parent has been to see me and has suggested they pay half towards the excess...but who knows.
I've seen your car parking situation and it's much the same as mine...everyone gets territorial about their parking space outside their house...What can we do though?...:(

The words "cocktail" and "Molotov" spring to mind ...

bradders 03-Jul-2004 17:09

as suggested above - cheap car (taxed of course) parked there and left to rot...and if it wasnt them they deserve it for putting cones out on a public road and stopping paid up punters using it!

everton 03-Jul-2004 21:27

Another idea is to get a couple of old caravans.

Park 'em up outside the offending house.
Chock them on bricks and remove the wheels.
Get a couple of old prams and a bit of scrap iron
Litter liberally.

They'l think some pikies are moving in. Thst should put the **** up 'em good.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

dave w 04-Jul-2004 12:14

Jools...... burn there house down mate :mad::mad:

guest1 06-Jul-2004 15:15

So the democratic decision is to get yerself worked up into an eye poppin' vein bulgin' rage then go round to the suspected offender beat the cr*p out of 'em burn their house down, rape their dog and stampede their womenfolk.
Expect a custodial and onset of heart condition.
Yeah, so you worked hard fer your money and you got a nice car. But there's no point in lettin' the barstewards get to you.
Sort your car out, chill out, keep a close eye on the street and manage yer anger.
The country ain't goin down the tubes as some would have it.
I didn't say don't get your revenge. but do it in your own time and to your own plans. Look at all the options and alibis/escape routes.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Firefly 08-Jul-2004 18:28

What is it with people on this board really trying to pi55 people off, Im sure all Jools wants is a bit of sympathy or an understanding comment rather than a patronising lecture.

Sorry it happened to you Jools :(
