Thruxton Club race Sunday 11th July Next Sunday the North Glos race club has a meeting at Thruxton. My original plan was to enter this meeting on the 400 but as it didn't return from the TT I didn't send in a entry. I'm currently in the process of seeing if I can get a late entry on either my 600 or my 916. It may not happen but either way I intend to go to Thruxton next Sunday to either race or spectate. So hope to see a few of you there [Edited on 5-7-2004 by skidlids] |

anyone up for a Hants rideout as its hants meet day??? |
Would love to try Thruxton, but Monty and I are at Snetterton for the weekend. Have fun WeeJohnyB |
Just had a email back from Marion Carnall the entries secretary at North Glos, She can get me a entry in the Sound of Thunder and a reserve in the 600 races. I have asked Marion to enter me in the Sound of Thunder races. I will probably be starting from the back of the grid and will be racing my 916BP road bike with all of its 104.8bhp on the countries fastest circuit against bikes on the front fow of the grid in the form of Ex GSE 996RS's, 998Rs and a like. So I don't expect to do that well but I do intend to enjoy myself. As I wasn't intending to race the Ducati this year I have a bit of prep work to do before I travel to the circuit on Saturday. Tyre choice will probably be limited to a new set of Diablo Corsas on mag wheels and a set of wets. I have asked if I can have a couple of extra passes/tickets if they turn up I'll try to pass them to anybody interested or pass them to Senna3 to hand out. Kev |
cool....see you there:cool: |
I hope to go up there... facy joining us on the ride up Paul? |
Nick - yep. Call me and we can arrange. Kev - who do I have to sleep with to get the free tickets??? Alternatively, if prostituting myself is not enough, can you give this club racing novice an idea of costs and start time. Cheers, Paul |
Best of luck, Kev! Show 'em how it's done! |
Paul, I'm not sure how may tickets I will get yet, the normal allocation is 3 but I have asked for Extra. The original 3 are already spoken for with them going to myself, Senna3 and Gordy. Not sure if Senna3's wife is going to be there or if my mate Dallas who normally races with me wants to come along. Your then next on the list Paul. Failing that Paul its usually about £10 to get into a club meeting, with free access to the paddock etc Felix, I don't suspect I'll be showing any of them how to do it, i'm not sure if Phil Bevan will be there on his RS but I know Mark Buldock will be there on the CSC Ex GSE 996RS. Still it will be the first time I will have mixed it on the track with the Mini Twins (Probably all SV650s) which will make a change from where New Era have added CB500s and Hornets to the Mix. As for yourself Felix try and stay off the grass this time and see if you can get one of those trophy things Weeksy is on about. [Edited on 7-7-2004 by skidlids] |
http://www.ngroadracing.org/next_meeting.htm If you keep refreashing the page so the pic at the top changes you will eventually come across one of me, No. 80 Black 916 with Yellow and Black cloathing [Edited on 7-7-2004 by skidlids] |
Trophy it is, then, Kev! Looking good! ![]() |
Its easy to look good when I'm going that much slower than the top guys. At last years Thruxton round I couldn't get the 916 Strada to pull up the hill towards the chicane, in the open race I had 600s passing me. Later found the air temp sensor had dropped from its location to finaly rest behind the radiator. Don't think that did a lot for the fueling curve. hopefully I'll not have any problems this year. Thruxton is one of those circuits that has very limited track time for bikes and although this will be my 4th visit I'm still learning the circuit and totaly enjoying it. |
Pit entry is free, entry to the circuit is usually about £10 for a club meeting with children under a certain age (14 I think) free. Practice starts at 08:55 and is then suspended from 09:20 to 10:45 for the CHURCH BREAK (good time to arrive). I expect racing itself to commence at or just before 11:30 |
That was the 748 Steve, since I got home this morning I have taken all the Yellow road kit off the bike, rear pegs, indicators and mirrors, Fitted a red tank after fitting a plug onto the pump wires, changed the later 65mm calliper forks for my reworked for racing ones along with their 40mm callipers complete with Ferodo CP911* pads mated to a Brembo radial master cylinder that sits on slightly longer bars. New rear pads have been fitted and the back brake bled up. I have now been up for 24hrs and still have a bit to do. Will hopefully have time to take a couple of pics when finished |

good at spannering coffee...tea...bacon sarnies.... |
No time for the Tea or Bacon Sarnies, Anti freeze now drained and replaced with water. Also just been around a mates to look at his 900SSie that he got a short while back, he tells me its tank slapping everywhere and is no fun to ride. Has a Ohlins in the rear with a 8.5kg/mm spring on it, it has far to much sag in the rear so I have left him sorting that while I hop on my PC and visit the Ohlins web site for info. its all go at this end, on top of that they are shutting the road at the top of my close later because of the speedway. |

so, what does it cost to get a mate like you? |

with or without sliders...... |
nearly finished, just need to remove the number plate and rear indicators plus sidestand from the 916 and add race numbers (149) along with DSC stickers. The 748 also has a few minor bits to do to it. Still here are the pics |
and now the 748 soon to be up for sale |
All times are GMT +1. The time now is 10:22. |
