Bling Watch this space. Have sthg to say on subject but BEDTIME. 2morrow. When not riding, thinkin' bikes - aren't we all? |
er! no. |
It's about helmets. OK? 2morrow. Not now. Too sleepy to do subject justice. Trust me. Will be rarin' to go 2morrow. |
I bet you want to know where you can buy a pair of furry ears or one of those mohican thingys for your crash helmet now.:lol: |
nah pj, she called the topic "bling", i reckon she has seen somewhere that you can get a gold chain for your bike, so she`s thinking "hmm, one of those would look nice instead of that ghastly chinstrap" :D |
I already feel like it'll be an anticlimax ... |
May have made catastrophic mistake. Don't know any bikers (well, clearly, will soon) and it may be COMPLETELY Naff but I just bought a KBC vr-1 Smok.Chrome helmet. Why? looks. purely looks. It doesn't fit very well, I've always valued my life enough to pay Arai prices, but it is such a fantastic finish. It's shiny in the sun, it's dark in the dark. It is BLING. Apparently, this shop, London Colney, has sold "several" - to Londoners who come out specially to buy them. Er, black guys - who, we all know, REALLY know about Bling. So, if you fancy impressing your pillion girlie, give her one (sorry!), buy her one. Trust me! She will love it! |
It may look good but if you value your life as you say and it doesnt fit very well then change it for one that does, especially as you're happy to pay Arai prices just cos it looks fantastic! :puzzled: |
Ok. Ten minutes elapsed. Either (a) have blown any semblance of credibility by buying a lid that NO ONE has ever heard of or (b) you have objected to what you consider to be racist remarks. You are so wrong. I have a a brown niece and nephew. It's the niece's birthday on Sunday. I am to be godmother to my nephew. Hello? Anyone out there. Ok, I will admit, I do have some colour prejudice. YELLOW Ducati? Why? |
No, psychlist. Does fit, just not as well as an Arai. And was almost half the price! Anyway, I never fall off, so don't need to worry about my safety. |
Quote:
Sorry Ruth, a statement like that is plain stupid - you never know when the nasty things can happen - you always need to be prepared. CK - not a racist, just a hater of silly remarks:o |
Quote:
Another silly question! To be different from the "every Duke HAS to be RED" brigade  |
Redruth, Psychlist when will you lot remember about this years red (yellow) Its Blooo I keep tellin you all Redruth When someone says I never fall off, they aint been riding too long, or else the 4 wheel muppet is out to get you tomorrow Be aware and very well prepared, including lids that fit very properly Best get Bling fer the bike, like nice billet machined cambelt covers, carbon bits and a nice gold chain........fer the bike before you rush to the jewellers rgds in an absolutely great blooo moood mort |
CK and AK ... calm down. It does fit. It just doesn't give me that 'boxer that just ate a bee' squashed face look. However, worn it once and am already on the case. Went to London Colney bike shop today and talked about 'fit'. They are getting me new cheek pads to go inside and, worst case, will change to the 'Arai DS look alike XS' helmet which fitted v. well. Only didn't buy it because I had a grey Arai DS helmet before last and don't like copies. Like originals. So, this dibble, makes silly remarks too, or what? |

Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear! ;) |

And your profile reads...Aim: never fall off a stationary bike again... Quote:
Mmmm..."Brown"?...Very P.C considering you studied Law I'm puzzled Ruth??? Are you VMan in Disguise?:lol::lol::P:P:P |

 Who was it that stuck that "Oh Dear ..." sticker on Dib's screen? Oh, his face when he saw it!:lol::lol: |
Actually, I have 9 years no claims bonus. So, safety wise, I would say I am excellent. Always wear full leather/Rukka gear. Scoff at guys on R1/R6's in shorts and T shirts. If I can't get helmet to give me squash face look and can't swap, will scrap. £200 nothing compared to my safety. I'm a mother, for god's sake! I have responsibilities! Just thought I could shed them temporarily whilst having a bit of fun on this website. Clearly not. So, CK and AK. Apologies. You'd have to know me to know how NOT serious I was being!:P |

i`m confused, so what is the correct terminology for someone who is brown, when refering to said persons colour ? |
My sister is white, her partner is black, Jamaican. Together they make brown kids. It's not rocket science. And they are GORGEOUS! After what I was reading last night on this very message board about 'the darker the berry the sweeter the juice' I think my comments are eminently mild. I can tone it down if necessary. In fact, I can go watch TV. Which is what I would normally be doing this time of night, home alone. Just thought this was better entertainment. :sing: |
Ok, 2nd night on, have upset people. 'too touchy' would be my diagnosis. It's like texting. there's always an alternative interpretation to the written word. Hey ho. TV then. Will leave any further self-revelations for face to face meetings. |
egggsactleee!... No touchiness about the comment...just being "silly"...It's called banter and there is quite alot of it on here... Stick with the board...you'll have fun. Most comments on here can be read either way...and seeing as I'm "brown" ...( well to be PC I'm of mixed white Asian desent with small percentage of gaelic parentage!)... I shall retract the said comments with an apology! And again say...Welcome:D:sing::bouncy: |

"brown" just doesn't denote the ethnic background of the person that you are refering to... Like James Brown sang "...Be Brown..be proud" Although it might be politically correct to say brown it could actually be deemed to be offensive by not acknowledging the persons culture... AND I cant believe that I'm typing this it makes me sound like a blinkin do gooder! But I am not "that brown bird with the Ducati" I am That "Asian bird with the ducati" |

LOL it don't surprise me you're confused about yellow dukes having just bought the helmet equivalent of chrome hub caps, seen? Have you managed to find chrome spinners for bikes yet? ;) To have a red bike is to follow the crowd, ya get me rudegirl - saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaafe ;):saint: |

I quite like my Blue chain on my 998 Hybrid, which is a yellow Ducati, because I like Yellow. Red is fine for MOST Ducati owners as they all look the same to me. Lisa. luv your comments |

dont really want to get too involved, but surely being called asian is a bit of a generalisation? i would nt be too happy about being referred to as 'european'. also surely if you're describing someone its quite ok to describe them by their colour only? without going into thier background/culture/religion etc. would bother me is someone is trying to desribe when when i'm part of a mixed 'colour' group and they say something like 'no not that one the white one' for instance. |
Forgive me if I'm being thick - but what does Bling actually mean? By the way it was me who organised the stickers for our late lamented Dibble:cool: |
Quote:
Beats me! :puzzled: Quote:
Good 'un, webbyc :D |
'Bling' means 'anything flashy/glitzy just for the sake of being as flashy/glitzy as possible'. At least, that's what I THINK it means. Hope so, having started this blasted discussion, a fact I have had now had more than enough opportunity to regret. Off to bike shop now (push bike) to get my racer serviced. Now there's a bit of kit that has absolutely nothing 'Bling' goin' on. |
If I had 2 grand to spend, I'd be buying a 2nd bike to use as a track bike! I'm v. worried mine's gonna come a cropper at some stage on the track and I won't be able to afford to get it fixed, or, if repaired on insurance, I'll lose my 9 yrs no claims bonus and have to give up biking altogether! Just waiting till my house sold and 'loadsamoney' in the bank and then I can relax and buy WOTEVER I WANT! :D |
oh dear oh dear oh dear |
And being PC vman, it's the Union Flag. Agree tho, bling helmet is one of 'em Arai's |
Yes flanker - it's a Union Jack if flown from a ship ("Jack" being the name for a small flag found at the rear of a vessel) BUT the term has passed into common useage so either is correct. :P |
who'd want to fly a flag that covers 3 countries anyway? st george cross is the ONLY way forward. imho. |
If you're wearin the chrome helmet and you've a lady passenger, she'll be spending more time fixing her warpaint and not paying attention to hanging on. |
All this talk of mixed race made me think I'm half German and half Irish.....so i'm a very efficient idiot, always get the first deckchair on a cloudy day:lol: |
That hadn't occurred to me. Frankly, though, my passengers know better than not to hold tight. Especially at starting lines, I'm sorry, traffic lights, lined up with other bikes. Especially in London! My daughter gave me a right B****kin' for 'forgetting' she was on the back when racin' a courrier. I told her, if she wasn't such a good pillion, I wouldn't have forgotten she was on there. NOW, I just know I'm gonna be hearing from CK about what an irresponsible mother I am! Don't bother, CK. You'd have to meet my daughter to understand. In fact, I might just set her on you, 'cos she's much better at defending me than I am!:rodent: |
This is soooooo funneeeeeee - I've laughed all the way thru' - keep it up peeps, it really makes my day.... Every comment is a classic in it's own way. (Now if only I didn't have the brains of a sugar mice, I could have joined in - is that too PC?). Carry on DSC.... :D:D:D:D |
Quote:
Yeah. Surely the mice should be white and blind. There, that's better. Not PC now;) |
Wow. That was really spooky, fatduke. I was just giving you the benefit of my experience on your speeding issue. Or is that how this website works???? It's all beyond me. Oh. My daughter just rang me. She's taking CK out to dinner to beg her to back off and leave me alone! And she's not even on line. |
