Exhaust Kite-mark stamp Hi Lads and Lasses I took one of my bikes (RC30) for an MOT today and was told by the tester that he would pass my bike if the exhaust cans (bit fruity!!) were stamped with a BS kitemark. He alluded to the fact that apparenely there is a company somewhere that makes a punch which will kitemark your cans for about £12 or so and advertises in MCN!! However I can't fid the Ad!! Has anyone any experience of these punch/stamps that can pass on info? The 888 SP5 had an illegal exhaust from day 1 - even says so in the handbook!!:puzzled: Thanks in anticipation Justin |
ha a little fruity!!!!!!!!! i heard you coming as you came off the autobahn............:lol: |
i dont get it, why would he not pass them as they are. he can look the other way if they have a fake stamp but cant if they dont. cant you just put the original back on ? I had the same thing with some termis wanted me to get them stamped. Yea Right. |
Yeah alright Nathan - I'm just playing it down a little OK - it almost worked at the MOT station!!! Besides, I hear you keep swapping your 999 can to try to find a quiet one!! Ooooh the sarcasm!! |
Keefer I'm afraid that's the deal As for original cans - H'mm that might have been a good question to ask the guy I bought it of!!! Anyway I might see if I can graft a flugel horn on to the downpipes to quieten it down a little. Justin |
 |
id go somewhere else, a bike dosent even need to run for an mot. so they dont need to hear it. just kill it before rolling onto the forecourt. try going to a Honda dealer where they will just enjoy seing and talking about the bike rather than testing it:roll: |

Ah, it's not just me that uses that tactic then! |
Me: Have I just wasted my time putting the standard can back on this bike? MOT tester: Yes Nuff said! Ray The same place has also summoned the tea boy to show him what proper frazzled track day tires look like!! |
I have no probs with MoT's with my 45 Termis fitted - as far as the MoT guy is concerned his view is they are OEM on Dukes. Am I going to say otherwise:puzzled: Think about it there are a lot of new dukes with legal eu stamped standard Termis on. That's a line you can't use if you have Microns or any of the other non-termi (I think i've just invented a new word) aftermarkets fitted:sing::sing: |

Show off! |
Been busy with a hair-dryer and a wire brush then eh???:lol::lol: |
Who said they were on my bike???!! Assume nothing, Question everything!! Ray. |
HA - then it's a bit like the looks my bike was getting at a recent box hill day with the DSC. My tyres were Pirellis SuperCorsa's fitted by tyreman only the day before and previously used for a TD or two by our very own Weeksy. Everyone stopped and looked and made the appropriate oohs and ahhs ... :frog: |
Does the RC30 need a stamped zorst or were they made before the cut off date? (don't know when it was):puzzled: |
You definetly don't need the stamps for the 888 as it's not even seen a tank of fuel since you've had it. I bet you have to get your mates to put it back together for you. Jeeze if your not loosing brake bits your trying to cheat the law. Give me a ring as I might just be able to sort you out. Will talk to the padster on Mon............ |
I don't know about the kite stamp, but a nice chap on here posted me details of a guy who sells metallic stickers with the BS AU number on them. They are 10 quid a pop though, for something that looks like it cost 50p :rolleye: If you want the address/phone No send me a PM. Cheers, John. |

Always a talking point at the lights, although the R1/R6 crew seem to ignore me, too embarassed of their 2inch chicken strips no doubt  |
Hey Stimpy Just remember, the mighty pheonix will rise!! How's your Tooquieti? - has it seen the light of day lately or (as rumour has it) have you traded up for a sit-on lawn mower? Pad and I will be out tomorrow night for a bit of a tear up if you're interested. Catch him at work tomorrow. Justin |
