teary eyed moment ...

My 4 year old boy came up to give me a kiss goodnight tonight. His name is Bede and he's a little cutie (but parents all say that don't they ... aaaanyway) .. so he climbs into my lap and sings this little song.

No prompting or anything, just what he felt like doing at the time ...

"I love you, You love me
We're best friends like friends should be
With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you
Won't you say you love me too"

<sniff, sniff> :D:D:D

He even gave me the hugs and kisses at the appropriate moment. You'd think that after four of them now this sort of thing would wear off .....

Oh yeah right and then they hit 17, look like this and give you nothing but lip...

If I get the tickets tomorrow o.k. - he'll be at the GP with me and you can all testify to it....

luv 'im really....

;);)

kwikbitch 20-Jul-2004 00:59

I'm not sure who made the design decisions but whoever it was - Allah, Jesus, Mohamed, Buddah, you choose - that moment you hold them in your arms for the first time they've got you for the rest of eternity. Ahhhhhh :)

Sweet dreams Anna

Bloody Barney. Sick of Barney. Sentiment is great though!

Mark 20-Jul-2004 08:40

:lol::lol:

Loz 20-Jul-2004 08:52

I was treated to a very cynical rendition of the Barney song by my boys (14 and 11) the other day. It has no place on this particular thread, as I respect tp-996's feelings! :)

They're very cute still at 4 years old. :)

:D

This morning I busted him playing with a power socket ... but he's lovely.

My little 7-month old started nursery yesterday...bit of a wrench leaving her there I can tell you. And when i went to pick her up, blimey, her smile was the biggest ever! :)

(still, means i get the days to myself again!)

Jools 20-Jul-2004 12:59

Yeah, kids are great....

My daughter is 22 now, and my son will be 21 next month...how that happened when I'm still only 32 myself beats me!

:rodent:"Reminder to Jools - Time goes past in a flash, I think you'll find you blinked and went from 32 to 49 without even realising it"

Jools: "Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me rodent :sniff:"

Anyway, kids give you so much.

I remember when my son had just started school and he was sitting on the edge of the bed as I helped him put his socks on. He turned to me and said "I wish I wasn't five". "Oh yes", I said, "Why's that then". He shook his head sadly and said with a big sigh "Because I had so much more fun when I was younger"

So, all you'se with young kids...make the most of it, because in the blink of an eye they'll be grown up and you'll be an old git like me.

And never, never, never count up the amount of money they've cost you...cos you'll find you could have had a Desmosedici for every day of the week

psychlist 20-Jul-2004 21:43

I love children too...........

.............but I couldn't eat a whole one!

Sorry, didnt mean it, I'm only jealous :borg:

paulmort 20-Jul-2004 22:03

Yup, I'll endorse the feeling that when they're young, I lurve em, as long as they're my own
Katie once said to me
Love you lots cos your the bestest Dad I could wish for
Fell for it hook, line and sinker
Now its Dad, Love you lots, can I borrow a tenner, twenty, forty notes, new shoes, top, clothes in general aint that cheap

God you are a soppy lot! I have a drop dead gorgeous, 5'9" blond 24 year old highly motivated IT saleswoman for a daughter (dream on guys, u ain't gettin anywhere near her!!) who intimidates the life out of me and a 22 year old Sandra Bullock look alike, dreadlocked Eco warrior who is SO much like me I can't cope with her. But they are what it's all about. And at the end of the day, they are my best friends. :barfy:

Henners 20-Jul-2004 23:03

Child bride Ruth ??? :o

Redruth 21-Jul-2004 00:10

Clearly, Henners. You've met me and - I hate to say it - pointed your evil lens at me. I just turned 35. Child bride - for sure!!! Just hope I never go abroad with any of you cos you might get a glimpse of my passport. ;)

webbyc 21-Jul-2004 09:27

So Ruth that makes you 11 when you had your first daughter and 13 on the second one - ok so on that sort of reckoning I must be 34 cos I've got a 22 year old!!!;)

But I've also got a 4 year old and they can give you the extremes of emotion - why do we put ourselves through it?
