Yes, yes, very funny.

I promised I wouldn't show anyone this photo, but you've made me...

Stop showing off. Just because I wouldn't give you your t-shirt back.

I've never taken time to look at both ends of a tacho before. It's a marvellous bit of engineering, isn't it? The model shown above seems to have a sort of internal 'second skin' of slightly yellower tacho, suspended in a wall of refried beans.

Looks bloody delicious if you ask me.... :)

Getting to the redline looks a bit lumpy though

Spot on there Desmondo, but I'm afraid you've only got a picture of one in it's early lava stage where it has assumed the shape of the adult. I'm not surprised they are very rare.

In one or two weeks time it will go into it's chrysalis stage, where it creeps into the dashboard area of a parked Ducati, and parasitically feeds upon the standard clocks. It then secretes a resinous carbon fibre shell around itself and will remain dormant for many years. Luckily it's parasitic form still performs the functions of the standard clocks.

However, they do need the bike to be stationary before they can crawl into their new environment, that's why you won't see many on Ducati's that are actually ridden. They tend to infest those that are stored as 'trophy bikes' in peoples garage or living room.

Here's a picture of an adult:
