Changing front sprocket How do you lock the front sprocket, to stop it turning, when removing the sprocket bolt. Rob |
I put it in gear and put a bar thru the rear wheel,no doubt some one will come along and tell you how to do it proper :D |
Um, don't think that will stop the front sprocket from turning Karl:lol: |
it would work, as the chain is still fitted. But I think that I need a longer breaker bar, as it just doesn't seem to want to move. Just to double check, these aren't a left hand thread ? Rob |
You can tell I'm not a mechanic can't you Rob:( |
just knock it in gear and leave the chain on till you have it lose. and its normal thread. you wont need a longer breaker bar just shock it and it flies off. |
I will have another go tomorrow with my mate there to stand on the rear brake and keep the bike stable on the paddock stand. That will let me get a better position and use my weight. Then it should be no problem :) What is the correct torque setting for this nut ? Rob |
i never torque it so cant help you there but it should say in the book. |
Iv told you how to do it :o ....Rap a bar of some sort in a rag, place it thru the rear wheel, slap it in first gear. Then place a scaffold bar or something over yor ratchet and hey presto :P The jumping on the rear brake idea can end in tears :sniff: |

I hear you, I already have a 2 foot breaker bar, but i think the nut may have been overtighened during PDI. I don't have anything suitable to go through the wheel (and I am worried about marking the wheel or swinging arm) I will try with my mate, if that does not work I will go to a friendly tyre center and get them to spin it off with a air wrench (or what every they are called) Rob |
Im having the same problem with my ZX6R. I have tried almost everything. I took it yesterday to a bike garage and he tried an impact driver and an air wrench and the little fecker will not budge. The nut is starting to round off now as well:mad: |

SWEAR VERY LOUDLY AT THE BARSTEWARD, THEN TAKE A HAMMER AND COLD CHISEL TO IT. Even if it doesn't come off, just hitting something hard relieves tension:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: |
Six munfs ago i count evn spill injuniir. |
BDG Are you sure you are ready for Ducati ownership, you animal!!!:lol::lol: |
oh my god I can picture it now!!:lol: take the hammer off him some one before he hurts himself.. |
I hope you noticed the tab washer and un-tabbed it!Steve P:cool: |
What was wrong with the old design with the little (M5?) Allen screws and retaining plate? Too easy to remove? |
