OK - is it time for a new DSC President? YOU DECIDE :D |
I've voted for Paul Smart - tough choice though! I really wanted Troy Bayliss but he wouldn't be able to make events and TD's etc whereas Paul lives in Kent so the likelyhood is higher ... |
Think you need to have another nomination - "Other" cos my vote still goes to Kwikbitch! Is there a [lust] smiley anywhere................. |
Alsdo considered Dribble - but he'd have to join the club :frog: |
I was going to vote Toseland as I think our president should be English at least however, even though Foggy is running the Petronas team he still seems to always be linked (even with the general public) as the image of Ducati. It still seems to me that WSB was at its hayday when Foggy was trouncing on everybody. Its just a shame that some of his reported comments and attitude have tarnished his image a little - in my mind, anyway. But, for a modern image of a sporting Ducati tradition I still think Foggy gets the nod. Cheers - Frank |
Frankie or The Doctor, but both would be totally impractical..... Never know though, if Vale wins it on the Yam he might just have a go at dragging the 'sedici onto the podium. :):):). Lives in London, can ride a bike, knows how to party.... my kind of president. :D Cheers, Ali |
Iconic, have you ever met the man? Think if you had you might have a somewhat different opinion. That said I wish I could ride a bike 10% as well! |
You forgot to add the choice of "Anyone but Foggy"... |
Hodgeson. He is still current WSB champ. |
Why isn't Ruben Xaus one of the options? :) |
I'm happy with the idea of Foggy as President, British and totally succesful on Ducati's... who else could be better? If the fact he's no longer involved is a problem, then my money's on Hodgson - British, reigning world champion on a Ducati, currently racing a Ducati at the highest level... and a genuine nice guy... |
Oh come on! How on earth can we possible condone having a president who is running a rival team, and hasn't been heard to say a decent word about Ducati in the longest time. :ninja: |
Henners, under the current ruling, how long is a president allowed to be at the helm?:puzzled: A 2 year term would be a good idea, as already said. Shame the gorgeous Mr Zaus isnt on the list....:( (if he had been ,I'd have created lots of accounts on here to vote for him!!!:D - e as a luvrly bum:D:D:D) Paul Smart would be a very active & sociable President tho C:) [Edited on 10-8-2004 by CK and AK] |
It wouldn't be for the message board to decide anyway, it's an AGM vote by the DSC paid up membership surely:P Tin hat on, and Foggy stays:lol: |
have to be flappa for me. Smart running a close second. Both Ducati legends. As with Foggy, the others could be wearing someone elses leathers next year???? |
It seems silly to suggest any of the current racers as they'll probably be off to another team in a year or so anyway. I say sticke with somebody who when you think of them, you think of Ducati. If that means staying with Foggy then so be it. I quite like him anyway. Frankie won't sack himself so he should be on a Duke for the rest of his racing days, but how long will that be? |

This is why I reckon it should be Paul Smart. That name is indelibly associated with Ducati ever since the Imola 200. That race put Ducati back on the map in racing and was the first success of the L twin that all of our bikes have evolved from today. You know it makes sense. |
Flappa gets my vote! Ex works rider, still wears the Ducati "uniform",travels over Europe to race meetings off his own bat & he's loved at the Ducati factory!! |
If our El Presidente is supposed to be a rider then really, even for a nipper like me it can only be Mike Hailwood !!! Failing that how about Tambourini / Taglioni etc (sorry for naff spelling). Frank |
I'm with the Paul Smart camp if the AGM votes a change 'cos he's a great guy, he's based in the UK and I know he'd take a keen interest in the club - which Foggy never has. I suppose its whether you want a figurehead or a 'working' President. |

Yeah, what he said :D |
Oh you seem to have such short memories... .... Ducati in this country would not be as it is today without Foggy. Yep he is and always was obnoxious, but you ask almost any man in the street who they associate with Ducati and they will say Foggy. I've voted to keep the status quo, much as everyone agrees Paul Smart is a sterling fellow. Frank - Mike Hailwood - is there not a slight technical hitch there? And Baylissboy - Falappa travels 'off his own bat'. Are you sure about that? |
TP - "Member of the Day is tp-996 with 63 posts" - so far. Glad I don't employ you ;) |

That actually includes last night shenanigans trying to win bits of billet - not very many of those actually came from today. I wouldn't be surprised it it's more a rolling 24 hour period it works that out from. And you couldn't afford me :P |

Judging by the grin on your face on the home page, Lizzie, I felt sure you'd be voting for James, as I did. No logic behind that choice other than (a) rides a bike like a god and (b) plays piano similarly. Two things I aspire to and (at this stage in life) ain't likely to achieve. Nah, if I'm honest, totally girlie vote, no technical backing whatsoever. Interestingly, Foggy was interviewed in Sunday Times 3 or 4 weeks ago fully admitting how obnoxious he is and comparing himself to some other (deceased) rider, whose name I don't recall, saying how alike they were. If your going to be obnoxious, being brash about it helps. :eureka: |
Yeti You creep, keep yer hands of my woman! |
or wot about Mr Honda, he made us so superior to other motoprcycle owners!:D |
Honestly - I don't really care. You'll all change your minds again when Foggy runs a desmosedici team :D |
Awwww - Lizzie.... Back in 1978 Ducati persuaded Mike Hailwood to come out of retirement and returned to the TT. Here he is on the Steve Wynne prepared Sports Motorcycles Ducati 900 desmo at the Waterworks on route to his historic TT victory !!! ![]() Please go to the headmasters office - LOL Frank |
Change of plan (again).... On a personal level I was thinking about the dozens of people on here who have helped me with various problems (some Non-Ducati as well). Maybe a one year term of office might be appropriate and for helping the website subscribers generally, I vote for... SHAZZAM !!! [Edited on 10-8-2004 by Iconic944ss] |
Nelly was bang on with his post, the likes of Chilli and Toseland will probably be riding Honda's and Kawasaki's next year,if the rumours are correct. Nah,gotta be British, have a deep Ducati history and preferably still be alive. Paul Smart it is then! BTW,Has anyone thought of asking him if he wants to be president?:puzzled: |
Does it have to be a rider?...Frank does have a point... None of us would be on these machines raving about the throb of the v twin without the designers/engineers etc AND...what about some of the outsiders... Chilli for instance...whipping the a55es off the squillion odd quid tuned up Dukes. Best fight for first on a bike I've ever seen. Stuff what the technical spec and graphowhatsits say...riding with Passion...Isn't that what it's all about?:saint: |
My vote still goes for Kwikbitche's A555.............. |
Paul Smart Quote:
|
Ill pick that up for you Henners, you appear to have dropped something........ |
Why, when its an Italian bike that were hooked on, does the President have to be British? |
err its a british club, with mainly britsh people in it. and it would be nice if there was some involvement from the president, can see an italian flying over to watch a load of us wobble round mallory in the rain for example. |
Yeah, Henners was saying only the other day, Paul Smart wants to come and watch Dickie (the riding god) at Mallory..... |
And wouldn't it be something special if we had Paul Smart on his Imola bike at our track day. Oh yes yes yes.:bouncy: Or the Sport Classic Paul Smart rep. ![]() [Edited on 11-8-2004 by STEVE M] |
