996BP, yr2000 help Going to check out a 996BP tomorrow with FDSH and Silmotor (chipped) exhaust. Generally is there anything I be wary of? Any help appreciated! Paul [Edited on 13-8-2004 by fatduke11111] |
See if you can get a look in the header tank, and check for emulsified oil+water. Speaking from experience here:(:( [Edited on 14-8-2004 by ducv2] |
Hey I've got a yr2000 996BP with Sil Motor cans .... Usual stuff with service history relating to mileage and age. Make sure the heads have been off and the rockers have been checked. I didn't do this when I bought mine and replaced 8 rockers and had to get one of the cam lobes polished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, thats 8!!! I'm not really sure about the others but lookup Shazaam's posts .... |

I have a FIM chip with a custom mapping done by Neil Spalding at Sigma Performance. He can change them around. Mine are 54mm cans with the standard link pipe. It pulls really well. Jason Boswell came and took mine for a ride last week (he has a '99 996) and he said his felt like a bag of nails after riding mine. To be fair I've also added a lightened flywheel, 14t front sprocket and had the cam timing played around with so it's making power and torque lower in the rev range and more usable - hence it pulling a lot better. Neil Spalding did all the work as part of his grunter spec. If you want to have a chat about it u2u me your mobile number and I'll give you a call. TP |
