Come to the DSC Mega Meet at Popham on the 30th http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=6936 and you will get to meet loads of club members.
Look forward to meeting you.

Cheers, Roy

desmojen 15-Aug-2004 23:38

Do you have to be an actual member to go?
How much is it?
Will there be any riding, or is it a show?

Felix 16-Aug-2004 00:32

Ah, another stranded DP board member I take it. With regards to the racing lark, start here:

http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=10493
http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=10607
http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=11013

Welcome aboard!

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 11:14

Hello Felix, you blew my cover! Yep I'm an estranged DP member!
As for Donnington, we already pretty much decided not to do Donny, cos we've never ridden there before and the shift I'm on at work leaves us no chance to practise except the Ron Haslam race school, which then leaves me no money to race! Doh!
Plus my poor little 748 is gonna get murdered on that long straight!
I do plan on being there as a spectator though. :burn:

Pretty much the same as when I race then! ;)

Felix 16-Aug-2004 12:21

But remember if you join the DSC, you'll get your entry fees for Donny paid for! There is a track day on Friday before the race, which I am planning on doing. Go on, you know it makes sense!

Jen you have to do Donny its a great track, surely one of you two.
have got a quiet exhaust you can put on one of your bikes...i'm going there on my road bike on 6th september...
for a trackday...why dont you just do that, then get a instructor on a trackday to show you the track.......Donny is the best track out there, you really will be gutted if you dont do that race......

by the way i'm ian1 on Dpc...........

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 13:01

Ian from greedy's??
Hiya mate!
How come you get your entry paid for then? And all of that won't stop my tiny twin getting mugged on the straight will it!
I'll have to chat with Lee, see what we reckon

Yep its me.........i've done donny three times now, and it is a easy track to learn....if i had to chose one race out of the whole season this would be the one.......i'm going to do a trackday there on the 6th september.
just to see what i'm like after my big off......then i might do one there on the 20th...the only down side is i cant take my race bike,i cant get any time off work when they are doing noise day.....i would do the race day.
but do two practise in the morning, they will give you them if you've never been to the track before....

Lily 16-Aug-2004 13:53

Hello Jen

I guess you are the lady that I came and said hello to at Mallory earlier in the year, we had a bit of a chat about 748r as i was interested in your clutch slave. Seeing you out there inspired me into wanting to give racing a go.

Have been brought back down to earth since then and told that i am not good enough and that I am too 'giddy' on the bike to race, so it looks like i will be sticking to spectating :)

Hope the racing is going well and good luck for the rest of the year :)

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 14:02

Well, hello again!
Hey, I'm not good enough to race either, who's telling you you're not?
The thing is, it's a massive buzz, and the guys are fantastic, I've made loads of new friends.
It's gradually getting better, I have managed to not come last in the last few races, but if I do Donnington I expect I'll be a pretty solid last again!
Come say hello if you're there, and give your doubters a slap as well!! :P

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 14:06

Ian, I'll see what I can do, I can't do the trackday just before as I don't have a road exhaust to put on my bike....or a roadbike to use instead.
Plus, if I do another trackday before then I'm gonna need new tyres, money money money,
where does it end eh? :rolleye:

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 15:18

Look at you all suzuki lovin!!
Nice logo mate ;)
Had to wander over, despite registering, the dp site won't let me on, and it's crap now anyway:puzzled:

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 15:24

Ok, I've got the forms printed off, I'll get it sent out.
What do you know about this race fee thing?

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 15:41

Cool, I'll sort it, thanks dude!
You at Mallory this weekend? Watching that is!

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 15:48

Ok, see you there! If I can skive off work that is!!

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 19:57

So, Felix, if you could let me know who to contact and how to go about it, I can get wheels in motion.
I got my membership application posted on the way in to work tonight so thats in hand.
Also, whats the gen on the friday practice day, who's running it, how much, and crucially, is it a noisy day?
The other option is the Ron Haslam school on the 29th of september, at least I wouldn't need another tyre if I did that!

Felix 16-Aug-2004 20:03

Jen, simple really. As DSC member you'll get your race fees refunded. Simply send in the regs to DP as usual and on the day, you'll get the refund.

See ya on the grid!

The trackday on Friday is with Track Attack and yes it's a noisy day. Have a look here: http://www.uktrackdays.co.uk/

desmojen 16-Aug-2004 20:32

Wicked! Thanks mate, see you there

skidlids 16-Aug-2004 23:49

I thought to qualify for the race fund entry at Donington you had to be a paid up member on a certain date.

Felix 17-Aug-2004 00:00

Hmmm, maybe you're right. Wonder it still holds http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread...10651#pid89851

David Cook will clarify surely.

desmojen 17-Aug-2004 00:28

i've sent a u2u to David Cook but according to the thread you linked to, I do not qualify for help. :(

skidlids 17-Aug-2004 00:49

After voting for the race fund at the AGM and then putting a lot of ideas forward to do with it, I can't say its turning out as I expected. The idea was to have a comittee which I understood I was part of but I have never been consulted about it once my ideas had gone in.
Can somebody on the management team actually tell me how much was set aside for the fund and how it was intended to be used.

Felix 17-Aug-2004 09:33

Fully agree, weeksy.

David Cook 17-Aug-2004 09:52

eObviously, the reason that the sponsorship arrangements were designed only to apply to Members before the announcement i.e. as at 1st July 2004, was to stop anyone taking advantage of the Club.

It would be easy to join for the £20+£5 fees and get £100+ straight back!

I am not saying for a minute that this is the case here but I have no way of judging that for myself.

Steve's point about Jen joining before she knew about potential sponsorship is certainly valid and I shall be writing to all Henners' original Academy contributors for their opinion before we decide.

Oh and welcome aboard desmojen (do you know what you're getting into girl?)

I don't think it is for you or I to say what is and isn't harsh on this matter, I was at the AGM for the vote and remember some of the concerns. It is for Management to decide taking into account the views of the club membership and the rules for the fun that were decided upon.

skidlids 17-Aug-2004 11:33

Should I send out invites to this lot some of which are mates that race Ducatis others are guys I have met through racing, some who already know about it as they visit the board.

Phil Bevan
Ian Hutchinson
Les Liney
Mark Baldock
Simon Knowlson
Dean Nicholls
Geoff Cain
Louigi
Tim Watts
Steve Hillary
Kenny Watmore

desmojen 17-Aug-2004 11:41

Sorry to be causing a disturbance here fellas, I must admit I was surprised to think that I could join and get help just like that, for the same reasons that David has quoted.
I leave it in your capable hands.
It would certainly be nice to see some Ducatis up the sharp end in the race, we don't really see that too often with all those goddamn gixxers out there!
P.S. Thanks for the support Weeksy! :burn:
