Credit cards...

Who's doing the best deals on transfers at the moment ?,sorry its a bit of a boring thread, but i really need to sort mine out.......moggers@feckininterest.com

Barclay card are doing 0% on Balance transfers up to £5000 until August next year I thing I read on one of my junk mail envelopes

MJS 18-Aug-2004 10:36

Barclaycards current offer is 0% on balance transfers AND purchases for 12 months.. but the offer runs out at the end of the month or something like that....

Loz 18-Aug-2004 10:44

Word of warning on these 0% on transfers deals. Too things can happen (based upon real life experience):
1) You get the new card straight away, with a tiny limit that is a useful as a chocolate fireguard.
2) Your application doesn't get processed until after the 0% deal has expired ("Sorry, the delay is due to the unexpected volume of applications we have received").

With life, there's no getting something for nothing. This is doubly true with credit card companies. Lying little :flame: tvrds.

Rant over, sunny smiles again! :D:D:D

I've never experienced that Loz - currently on my 6th 0% credit card!

Anthony, your face must fit! :D

Best one is Sainsbury's. It's about my fifth and gave me £15k to spend (oh s**t) and 0% for 6 months. But Loz is right, I've had a couple that don't reach the balance you want to transfer. They are slowly catching on!!

:D
I have the Halifax One Card, 0% for balance transfers & new purchases for 9 months. Then it is 9.9% APR , not bad;)

https://www.halifax-online.co.uk/_me...rmsLogin.asp?/

Just click on the View Demonstrations & then click on the Credit Card tab, follow simple instructions & jobs done, simple.
Do you think they will extend my 9 months 0% limit for putting this up??

Chris.

Or, you could play them at their own game.

Apply for a 0% card (or 2, or 3)
When it comes through do a 0% transfer to your bank account (or to another card that allows you to do this)
Stick it in a high interest account for 2 weeks under the 0% term
Pay the card off & keep the interest.
I tend to set it up so the monthly minimum comes out of the same account, so it's essentially paying itself off.

Nothing illegal, or immoral about this

Oh, and if you contact them, talk nicely and cancel the card in a couple of months you can apply for another one again.

It does take a bit of self discipline not to spend all that cash in the bank though....

'0% Finance' are lovely people - they sponsor my racing - I should get some stickers made up for the bike.
