I did a customers bike in Black last December. Had chrome decals made up and it looked the absolute dogs....................

Anthony.............where are you with some piccies :o

fatduke11111 18-Aug-2004 23:08

Rattler - yeah you're right looks a bit naff................(not)...... Is that all carbon fibre? Looks like the paints been plastered on how many coats was that?:o

Rattler 18-Aug-2004 23:33

No - these were my old GRP track fairings, they're pre-impregnated colour, not bad for cheap track stuff, that's how they came!!!

I've got carbon / kevlar ones now, these look even better, but I don't have a really decent picture of them.

Here's one from a wet and dirty Brands;

Rattler 19-Aug-2004 11:13

L3OONY 19-Aug-2004 11:30

I can confirm it was indeed rather wet!!!

As for black, I almost went that way a couple of years ago but decided not to, although I quite fancy it again. Although still want to try out a silver and blue, oh, choices choices.

Mr_S 19-Aug-2004 14:03

Rattler,

Where'd you get the pre-preg in black from?

Cheers

JS

Rattler 19-Aug-2004 15:29

I was thinking about a blue duke before I went for black, you don't see many blue 996's.

You should put yours back to redbull colours Jamie - they look the dogs!!

Tim

Rattler 19-Aug-2004 15:33

JS
Give Barry a call - his fairings are about the best I've seen. Similar to Vimori quality, but about half the price!!!

He will also paint (pre-impreg) in any solid colour and put in number panels if you want. Mob:07748 876 842 He's also a really nice guy.

Tim:frog:

Lily 19-Aug-2004 15:40

hmmmm... i still like that blue....

i am still thinking about going for blue and silver when i get my arse in gear though.

does anyone know who owns that blue and silver 748r that i keep seeing around?

Rattler 19-Aug-2004 15:44

Blue and Silver?

Not sure about the design, but the colours look good together;

Desmondo 19-Aug-2004 15:50

My RedBull stuff is all my road bodywork Tim, wouldn't want to put that on track. However if I get my bodywork sorted out and painted up I know a guy who can make up some nice big RedBull vinyl stickers ;)

Ferrari Pete 19-Aug-2004 15:50

Rattler, Did you buy those panels off e bay !

Also check out the misses Hello / OK mag as Tom Cruise is in there with a Carbon 999 Evo !

Ferrari

Rattler 19-Aug-2004 15:54

I did and I will!!!

Ta
Tim

Desmondo 19-Aug-2004 15:58

That last pic Tim, are pretty much the colours spot on. But I want to split the colours how my bike is now...

but have the silver instead of the yellow, then have a nicer, deeper blue.

Lily 19-Aug-2004 16:06

what with dirty patches and oil streaks...:puzzled:

:P

Rattler 19-Aug-2004 16:07

Kinda like this, but with blue where this is black?

Tim:frog:

Desmondo 19-Aug-2004 16:28

That's it Tim. Just gotta get off my arse and sort it out though :D

Lil, I think I may do away with the dirty patches, holes and scratches. At least for one trackday anyway

I've still got that fibreglass repair kit if you need anything patched up - I'm sure I owe you a few favours!

Desmondo 19-Aug-2004 17:07

Yeah you do owe me a few. I'll bring over my crap panels and you can give them back to me looking pristine. Sound fair? :D :P

Seriously though, most of the major holes are sorted. It's more a case of making it all smooth again.

Well I've got plenty of filler left as well, so feel free to drop them round and I can sort them out.

Desmondo 19-Aug-2004 17:55

I may well do that. At least you know what you're doing with that stuff. Maybe one night in the week next week?

antonye 19-Aug-2004 21:34

No probs mate. Might pop in to see the boys at TecMoto on saturday if you fancy it? You know where we are anyway so drop them round any time.

Desmondo 20-Aug-2004 10:04

Was thinking of popping down there some time soon to see how they were getting on but I've got a wedding to go to this Saturday.

ils 20-Aug-2004 14:13

Rattler, your bike looks the business!!
- I had my ex - ZX6R painted pearl black by Padded Cell which looked great but I was forever touching it up (oh,er..) 'cos every little stone chip showed up flouro green! - Also people always assumed the reason I'd had it painted was because I'd lobbed it (it wasn't, it was because when I bought it new it was painted like a hideous stripy-green sweety)..
Can you post some pictures of your carbon bodywork?

Rattler 20-Aug-2004 14:54

The picture from Brands (with the wets on) is the carbon/kevlar bodywork. Its ex-Renegade 998RS stuff and is very light - it looks very strong too, but I don't want to test it!!!

Tim

Desmondo 20-Aug-2004 15:05

Give it to me, I'll test it :D

JPM 20-Aug-2004 17:32

I'd just like to add that I believe my 998 may have been the first of the black run of Dukes, from our man Barry... well on the board at least.... I know I went with the flow after 2 mates got their kits off him...

How are those carbon panels going now anyway Tim? Saw Steve last week, with his shiny new 749R

Sheep the lot of you!!! LOL!!!
