What\'s my clutch worth? Opinions please peeps. Hypothetical question - for now anyway! ;) 748R slipper clutch fitted with new basket and clutch pack 40 miles ago. So, what's it worth? |
Around 350-400 quid for a standard Ducati slipper clutch in decent condition. |
Only one reply (thx antonye)???!!! What's wrong? You lot are usually so opinionated too!!! :lol::P:lol: |
Heh, you can never get an opinion when you want one! Have a look through ebay as there are always plenty on there. Cheap slippers seem to sell well (and sell for more than they're worth) but for the pukka things (Corse/Bucci/STM/etc) they just don't sell at anything near what they're worth. The problem with the 748R clutch is that it's the most basic slipper that Ducati could come up with (ramp only, no bearings) just to get it homogolated for racing. Once it has a slipper in for homogolation, they can swap it out for any other kind of slipper clutch they like - ie, the expensive proper race-spec, hand-made exotic ones. |
Is it the std 748R slipper? If so i would say diddly squat! For £350-£400, you could get as good a condition Bucci or stm second hand, with far better internals. IMHO |
I paid £250 for a AS NEW 748R complete clutch that was early last year. |
threepence ha'penny :lol: |
Jools said £3.50 You would think that was all the money he had :lol: |
Hmmm, I like Antonye's "opinion" best!!! And how much is diddly squat exactly? As for condition of mine, it's got about 4000 miles on it but has a brand new basket and clutch pack. So, pretty much perfect and good as new. Only posed the question as I'd like to fund the "real deal" and it would obviously help if I got something back for the stock 748R one. The only issue I have with buying a second hand Bucci, STM or similar is that every one I've seen has had a really chewed up basket. Why oh why do people still use steel clutch packs with an alloy basket? :o Cheers guys, Neil. |
Depends on if plates are included also. I know Pedro had trouble selling his, ram and ball bearing, good ergal basket and included almost new carbon plates (£140.00) Sold it for £350.00. Absolute bargain. [Edited on 2-9-2004 by Jon] |
Neil, Stick it on ebay with lots of pretty photos, lots of description and words like "new!" and "fast" etc, and it will sell no worries ;) |
I like your style Ant!!! :lol::lol::lol: |
