SS 916 Cafe Hybrid Been trying to build a bike out of bits, managed to get this thing together, sort of. Had some good info off you guys especially Cornerspeed its running now but need more please. 916 frame, 2 valve engine standard alloy swing arm. Think its got the lighter front wheel. 916 tank, seat unit no fairing. Its been running open carbs, rubber trumpets no filters 148 main jet. I'm guessing the lower shock mount should have a spherical bearing (not plain?) with top hat bushes?? This one looks to have been bodged, someone using washers between the shock bearing (plain) and swing arm mount. Found them after I removed shock (had to make a stand first to get it off the ground) to check valves. Taking me a long time to get it done because I had an off resulting in broken vertebrae, abscess 3 years ago, but that's another story. Thanks for any info |
Are there meant to be some pics or a link |
Oddly enough, I was only trying to find a thread on a 916/SS a few weeks ago and managed to find it: http://www.speedzilla.com/forums/duc...ilt-91-ss.html As for the swingarm bearing, I thought it was a plain sleeve but its been too long since I worked on my bike as this parts page shows: |

Been trying to, tells me they're too big to upload |
Thanks for the info, Id seen a similar one but still doesn't make it that clear to me. There is a lot of clearance between the shock mount eye and the swingarm mount on my set up, probably have to get some sort of bushes don't like the idea of the washers in there. Trying to get some pictures of it uploaded. Mind you after seeing how good that one in the link looks don't expect the same of this one |

2 Attachment(s) Taking me ages to get these Fxxxxxg things uploaded ill do some more later, but you can get the idea of what Im trying to do. No where near finished. can someone just point me to where I can see correct fuel pipe / pump connection to underside of 916 tank, want to run it with tank on. Thanks |
749/916 Pumps usually have one of two types of hose connections, either a banjo bolt and steel pipe that the hose pushes on to or the quick release fuel couplings like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE...em46002 2ffa0 748/916 pump unit is fitted with a 3-bar fuel pump and a matching 3-bar fuel pressure regulator to suit fuel injection |

Skidlids Does that mean this carb 2 valve won't run properly with this tank? Trouble is I don't know how it ran before, I bought it in bits not running along with an M900 for the motor. The outlets on the under side of the tank had 2 long pipes 13" long then a Y connector and another pipe approx 9" long to the carb rail way too much pipe under there. Also red and black connectors wired up to the pump? I've had it running pouring fuel down the rail, starts very easily rear cylinder quiet, front sounds like I've dropped a spanner down plug hole. No smoke. Any info on how to do this tank please, have to get it finished now. Thanks for everyone's help |
SS carby have a low pressure pump that switches with the ignition. You should be able to swap out the high-pressure 3bar pump for an original SS one without too many problems. There's been a few conversions on here in DD using 916 tanks, so someone should be able to help. |
