This must be some kind of super-website! So me and the missus are currently in China, picking up our new daughter (cue all the ladies going aahhhhhh....). More importantly for me though is that, even though the hotel room has Internet access, I can only get onto the sites that I need (company site, bloomberg) very intermittently. In fact, the only site that I am able to consistently be able to access is the DSC messageboard. Anybody know why this would be? In case I get accused of being insensitive, it's not that big a deal and I would rather be playing with my little pickle :sing: Chi, Andie & Morgan |
Good result all round then eh? Safe journey home and erm....Congratulations dad !!! Frank |
don't really wanna hear about you in a hotel room playing with your little pickle! Call it what you like dude, but don't broadcast it!! Oh hang on, I get it know... sorry! |
I think you'll find that all internet access whilst in the peoples republic is through goverment control. No, I ain't being paranoid, it is a simple fact of life for the Chinese. Hence, non-conformist sites are not accessible within the republic. Think that just about covers every other news site and probably every american site in the world. Try accessing Guardianunlimited.co.uk. (ps. congrats on new rugrat, is it on a 54 plate then?) [Edited on 17-9-2004 by guest1] |
I guess you are right Alan - it does seem that anything critical has disappeared off the face of the planet. She is a late 53-plate. One previous owner (chinese government), low mileage but already proving to be high maintenance - needs refuelling every 2 miles! Fried bullfrog anyone??! |
Great News ... daughters are gifts that allow man to aspire to the noblest part of his character. Welcome to being the Daddy! Love and best wishes to the three of you. Henners :D |
im a touch confused with this thread, i dont know any of you guys but have you just bought yourself a little chinese girl as your daughter i hope im missing something ???????? dave |
congrats chicken, should have gone for the boy version, they are easier ;) I jest. My daughter started school today, arghhhh, - she is all grown up.... well 4 and a bit really, - we warned her teacher that she is a bit shy, to be told by the teacher when we collected her that she did n't stop talking, she's growing into a women then :o I guess we learn that this site is politically correct with The Peoples Republic then. We'ill keep the red flag flying here, Power to the people!!! |
Thanks Ian - I guess I should enjoy the non-chatter while I can! How long before she wants to get on the back of the bike?! Welcome to the club Dave. While it may sound like we just picked one up for a laugh on holiday, this is actually the culmination of a two year wait to adopt a child. The babies are free, but there are a lot of expenses along the way. We did want to adopt in the UK but the authorities are very strict about ethnic matching and there just weren't any mixed chinese-white children available. Chi (in case you are wondering, I'm the chinese one) |
Congratulations and big pats on the back for giving a child a loving home.... Welcome to your daughter !!! I must admit you are brave having a girl... you do realise we are much higher maintenance than boys..:P Helen x |
