MHR900, a gem off a bike.

saw this pic whilst looking for 888's.
hard to believe that this bike has been packed up and not used since leaving the factory, incredible.
Where do these guys find these bikes to start with.:puzzled::puzzled:

In a similar vein,I know a guy that collects model trains. He has carriages and engines he has never taken out of the box!
(Of course the box is worth more than the train! )

'Cos its absolutely gorgeous, unlike the piles of cack that seem to be your would be cruise of choice at the moment...?

I've got to agree about the why keep it hidden and not ride it though.

The funny thing is despite being nigh on 30 years old it handles, stops and goes better than any custom Harley ever could AND will out pose any tinsle ice cream van down the kings road that you care to dredge up a picture for....

Wow! What a beauty, thinks I would rather ride that 888 you found the other day tho.
As much as it's a travesty not to use it, how ****ed off would you be when you got your first stonechip! :(

You think modern Dukes have reliability problems, try riding a bevel :lol::lol:

Ducv2
my 75 750 sport was always reliable, coz I loved it and fondled it every day!

Fiscus mate, I think you may have misjudged Vman here.

The way I read his post is that it's madness to buy a bike you (presumably) really love, then keep it hidden away in a packing crate so that the no one ever gets to see it. Still more, you never actually get to see it, let alone ride it.

FiscusFish 21-Sep-2004 14:10

Jools you're probably right about the meaning of his post, but having read Vmans past posts and his current love affair with Americana let's ask him what he feels about the way the MHR looks?

Vman O Vman, Coooeeee. Come forth and spout off about the MHR... Too old for your liking? Too sporty? Not reliable enough. Give us your wisdom...

People buy these limited production bikes as 'investments' initially, I suppose, but after a year or two of it sitting in the crate they realise that they couldn't use it - even if they then wanted to - because the first time they did it would knock ££££ off its value! There was an RC30 sold just a few months ago - no miles whatever - for around £15000. Just to 'ride' it home would cost the buyer around £5000 in my estimation. Catch 22!

Red SPS - why are you 'looking for 888's?' You wanting to buy, or just after the photos? (I'm hankering after an MV, so mine may be for sale soon - I emphasise; 'may'.)

Wow !!!! There are plenty of these people about with more money than they know what to do with. Theres a guy who buys bike @ OYB in Aylesbury I found out about when I was looking for a senna 916..hes got a 916SP, Senna MK1 & 2, 888 SP4, RC30 and a selection of bims..and none have been out of the crate...rich barsteward..!!
