Monster S2R

Does anyone know what the anticipated price of the new S2R is going to be? I found a US site advertising them for $7995 which works out at £4431! If its somewhere close to that over here then i could be seriously tempted!

According to TWO magazine they will be around £6k.

Hmmm, what do you reckon Daz?

Going to £5995 same as current M800, according to MCN, just seen a 2004 800 for 5995 at my dealer, so that will be reduced when the s2r comes in.

Saw a S4r and the swing arm is awesome and with the stacked cans looks awesome but at £8400 a lot of dough, the s2r 800 although not as fast has the same back end and looks cleaner at the front due to the air cooled motor but a lot cheaper than than s4r, could tempt me away from 748s next year for more practicality.

Seen the new 999 & 749 to much nicer, espeically the 749 in red with red frame and the new black swingarm nice:D

I just dont like the look of the 749, 999 bikes and the 748,996,916 are just too cramped for me. The S4 and the S4R have the same running cost as my ST4 so one of the 2 valve monster will fit the bill hopefully.

Be nice if they put the 1000ds lump in the new s2r :D but I guess it will be to close to the s4r in price and performance then.

Any one got a 800 monster or ss, looking at the figure on ducati.com my 748s puts out the same torque at a bit higher revs but has a lot more top end of course:D

I had ago on multi struddle and that was way fast enough hope the 800 isn't to far off;)

S2R looks very tasty and practical, List price of £5995.00 not bad either.

But never forget to play it cool, when talking to the salesman, let him know accidently (ofcourse) that you're just going to have a look at a couple of s/h one's as you might just be streaching on price a little,(remember, ice cool at this critical moment), and seeing as it "only for going to work on" ha ha!
a moped might still do the trick. Give him time to simmer nicely, work him as he want to work you, but remember, he wants your cash.

Aim for £5400. 00, (show him some cash deposit), you'll be doing ok at about £5750.00 inc first service. Hold out for the first service as this only costs the dealer about £40.00.

Nope, not going for another four valve duke, the running costs are way too high (for me).

rockhopper 26-Sep-2004 16:06

Nope, my ST4 has got more than enough power for me, its the £600 service bill for rockers and cam shafts every year that i can't handle.

Brutal power being the 20 odd horse power more than i've already got? I dont think so.

This gets my current vote for next bike. The trusty 916 may even get px ed against it.I think the S4r's engine looks ugly when its put on display like that and the two valve one looks a lot classier.
