Should make for a classic finale. Hope the british boy on the ducati does his stuff, but I really think vermeulen will come out on top.... ok, so I might be having a big piece of humble pie might be for tea - we'll see! |
it really could be down to race positions in race 2. Regis does not go well at Magny-Cours, perhaps JT has an advantage, I hope he wins the championship, but I have a feeling that CV will get a double win. Haga needs other people to give him the win with dnf's. |
First off,Troy Corsers Superpole lap was amazing. He was a couple of tenths down at the first two splits, then made it up on the last.Awesome riding.Vermeulen was watching it on the monitor and looked gobsmacked. As for the races,Toselands front row start has to give him a psychological advantage over Laconi, although the home crowd support may lift him to better things. There is a question mark over Vermeulens injuries. Can he last out for the two twenty odd lap races?Throw in the track specialist Gimbert and we have some interesting racing. I,for one, will be glued to my TV. |
I'm considering not going to Donington this morning to watch this. I sincerely hope that Vermuelen gets up and wins both races, IMO he deserves it more than Laconi and Toseland who both could have won the championship a few rounds ago if they'd stopped buggerising around. having said that, if Vermuelen wins he still needs the placings to go his way to get the championship. Haga's got no chance I think. And Troy Corser has long been the king of superpole (even though he hates it!) and I would dearly love to see him on a competitive bike, he's a quality rider. |
I was just looking at the points situation, if Vermuelen wins both races (come on Chris!) Laconi can still finish second in both and win the title. If Laconi finishes with a second and a third he will tie with Vermuelen (assuming Vermuelen wins both - which he normally seems to come second in the first race, goes back and sets the bike up properly then wins the second. At least he has recently, unless he falls off in the warm up lap ...) As you can see by the calculations I've done I want Vermuelen to win. Haven't done any crunching for Toseland ... COME ON CHRIS! GO YOU GOOD THING!! |
My heart wants Toseland to win but being a betting man my money is on Vermeulen. It is going to be a cracker of a day watching it. |

Well, I didn't think Haga had a chance of winning and he came third - I must have been doing alright. I haven't seen the racing due to a VCR issue so I don't know what happened really, other than two breakdowns with the Honda? Very disapointing. Nevermind, it's good to see Ducati taking the championship still - well done JT. |
