It worked Followed the info. on the old board to convert the sidestand cutout to allow the bike to run on the sidestand but cut if you put it in gear. Cost me nothing in bits. Just making sure its reliable before the final tidy up with some heatshrink. The idea of just plugging something in did appeal but anything to save some money? Ray |
Once you are happy it is working ok, can you mail me the instructions. ta |
Ray, where is it on the old board. I want to do it on my 996 bip. Cheers mate |
Try a search using diode as the word on the old board. These were the instructions I used. On my bike the blue mentioned wire wasn't blue though. Ray "You can easily make your own version of these safe bypass kits very cheaply. Run an appropriate guage wire from the neutral switch wire to the blue wire on the female side of the kill switch plug. Leave the plug connected. The trick is to run a silicon diode inline with this wire. I used an IN1001 diode that cost 45c. The striped end connects to the neutral switch side of the wire and the other to the kill switch. With this set up you can only start the bike on the stand if it's in neutral. Forget to raise the stand and the bike will die when you select a gear. I feel this is reasonably priced at around $1.00 to $1.50. email me if you want more detail jjjrules@telstra.com> |
