Dropping key around ignition barrel oooopppss!!! I did this today, seems funny now but not so at the time when you get up extra early to get to work:( It fell down between a frame rail and the front of the airbox with the metal part of the key poking through after removing side panel managed to pull it through all though a bit bent:o Anyone else ever done this? I always seperate ignition key from rest of them to stop the tank getting scratched. I may now get myself one of those rubber key rings to stop this in the future :D |
Lee, did you not get one of the DSC key ring fobs ,ideal for tucking in and protecting your paint work/tank when the keys in the ijnition. 4D |
I'd forgotten about this.:o I lost my key for about a month,it eventually vibrated its way in to the enclosed belly pan I have. Like you I also remove the key to start the bike, but some sort of soft attachment would help.:biaggi: |
I got one Fordie but so nice its hanging on my notice board, so got an old rubber keyring from a magazine should stop it falling through again:D Dealer said the tank wolud have to come off, then charge one hours labour for 5 mins work:o:o:frog: Probably impossible to do it again even if I tried :lol::lol: |
Nope. Never done that. No doubt will tomorrow, now. Thanks :frog::lol: |
yep been there.....as I recall, Monty fished it out with a piece of wire with a hooked end. Very frustrating though. WeeJohnyB |
And that was the second time. The first time was up in the mountains outside Florence. Anthony Ward dropped his key down between tank and frame after a coffee stop-I had to strip the tank and the airbox off to get to the dam thing. Next time we went on a trip I made sure I had a spare key to his bike and he had one to mine............... John |
:D I've done that as well, I had to pull all the fairings off to get it out again ... |
Good to know I'm not the only one:lol::lol: now got a huge rubber keyring on it worked a treat this morning:D |
You lot got off lightly. It happened to me at Burnsall last summer (soryy, I meant the wet season) Pulled up for a drink and a chat went to go and did the same but it dropped right in and was nowhere to be seen. Tried leaning the bike over this way and that no sign off it through the sides after removing the side panels so full strip down at the side of the road with everyone watching and mates ****ing themselves. List was:- Side panels x 2 Seat unit Tank Under tank filter Bell mouths on injectors airbox still a git to reach but we managed it I now have the Meta alarm key fob fitted to mine so it wont go through the gap even though I did try it! |
