Just finished modifying my 2000 ie after a little run in with a 17ton Truck! Just thought I'd make a post and see what you guys think of her:

Bike Details:

Custom Front Fairing with Xenon Projection lamps (Carbon Fibre)
Custom Nose cone sub-frame
Frame painted in satin finish gold (to ease cleaning!)
Custom Hugger
New vented rear disc
Neater rear end!
Mushrooms (don't wanna rebuild the fairings again in a hurry!)
Bit's o billet hear and there
Polished rear sets (gonna do the rest but can wait till winter!)
Double Bubble
Custom Graphics
Indicators in Mirrors
Smoothed upper fairings (indicator recesses removed etc..)
Slightly steeper Head angle to quicken steering
916 frontend revavled and set up for yours truely (machined the yokes and clipons to fit)
916 Brembos
Braided Hoses, Dot 5 etc...
New Billet Clutch Cylinder
Lowered Gearing
PCIII
and usual stuff to aid breathing / mild performance mods...
thats more a less it.. all done in a shed, self taught.. blooded knuckles etc!!!

Front fairing is really nice - the screen reminds me of an R1 (am i allowed to say that !) with its really exaggerated bubble.

Simon - been thinking about finally sorting the pig ugly front end of my bike, and there you go - someone has already done the complicated bit ! Fab. Would you be prepared to share your details ? OK here's the basic scoop on what I did to the bike

Basically I got a fibreglass race fairing from this company in germany, and then used this as a base to apply carbon fibre and make the race fairing super strong/light...

at the same time I found two cylidrical objects (in my case a tin of WD40 and a off cut of 2" waste pipe, and used these as plugs to mould the carbon tubes that the head lights would go into...

next I drilled to holes in the fairing to accept the carbon tubes
(I chose to fit them off centre following the lines of the base of the nose fairing.. didn't want to go the route of the 999 and wanted more of an endurace look ;-) )...

Next I bonded the tubes to the nose cone, using carbon again, making sure that they are angled correctly, and then trimmed and sanded them flush.

quick rubdown and paint and the nose cone was ready...

because I wanted the lights off centre I had to modify the subframe structure, as the steel tubes from the origional fittings are bang smack in the way.. so a bit of jiggery pokery with a grinder and a mig welder, and the subframe was ready to paint....

next I had to make a bracket for the 2 lights, and each needed to be fully adjustable to point the lights in the right directions.... welded these up, and painted them...

then fitted it all, and I'm well chuffed with the result ;-) I am not an engineer, a mechanic, nor do anything in the automotive profession... just a graphic designer with a lot of will, and a whole new set of tools in the shed! so if I can do it... (I don't even have a bloody garage!)

I put Xenon bulbs, and and array of ultra bright white LED's in for good measure! (OK just because I could really.. and I wanted to see what it'd be like!) and the performance is suberb... I need to go out with a mate on a standard SS at night to be truely objective... but I am really pleased with it.... and I think it looks much nicer than some of the aftermarket ones I have seen... and at a fraction of the cost....

got the mirrors from http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk .. look OK but crap to use... looking into some other alternatives (maybe putting LED's into some nicer mirrors?)

It was all pretty easy.. just time consuming... Haven't got it 100% how I want.. but thought bugger it I'll ride it whilst the weather is good, and attack it again when the weather gets worse (This wekkend then hey!
