can you guys give me your veiws on the pics you see hear of my 749r farings the bike has done 3.5k and at the rate the paint is coming off i will be down to carbon fibre by 5k has anybody else had proplems like this before.

Guess its just one of those things. I know on the 748/9** models, you could get a small carbon piece that fitted over this vulnerable area or I think I've even seen a clear piece that does the same thing.

Don't know if they are available for the 749 series though?

Stone chips are a bummer but the only way to stop it is not use the bike!!
If I am going on a long run abroad I cover the most vulnerable parts with industrial cling film

Anybody tried these http://www.showtrax.net/VentureShield.html I think the full bike kit comes in at around £79

The problem with paint chipping on OEM carbon panels is that Ducati do not adequately prep the panels prior to painting, resulting in poor paint adhesion. I guess this is down to the old time/cost equation and carbon takes a LOT more time and effort to prep than the OEM plastics or metal. I run into this problem all the time when repairing OEM carbon panels.

This issue should fall into the warranty catagory. I would pursue it with first the dealer where you bought the bike and if no joy there then with Ducati UK.
