21st Birthday pressie - help

Daughter dear is going to be 21 in March:alien:

Have been thinking about something special to give her (obviously!) :o

So far, have come up with a 'driving experience' day - perhaps at Thruxton in the supercars:o

We are staying away from the bike theme, as she is (still) only 4ft 11 & half tall - and really struggles to get on most bikes:lol:

Budget - depends really - but prob up to £500 (only daughter, not quite spoilt, but this is being worked on I am told!)

Location - South of England pref

Ideas from the floor? :puzzled:

Flying lesson either helicopters (device of the devil, or fixed wing. USually around £125 for first lesson complete with instruction, briefing's etc. If you want some help in locating a good school down there, drop me a U2U

You could check out the Red Letter Day site;

http://www.redletterdays.co.uk/home/index.asp

You don't have to buy from there, but should be good for some varied and special activities.

Or hire a plane and pilot down there to take three of you to Le Touquet in France for lunch

Yeti - great idea - we have fairoaks Airport about 2 miles away from us - any idea on schools/hire etc there?

Tim - have looked at the Red Letter days site, but found the Thruxton site seems to give better value - do you know what the comparison is from Brands to Thruxton for driving the circuits?

Not sure about relative costs of driving days.

If she's a keen driver then rallying is a great option - its a lot of fun too - I did a couple of days recently and it was a real scream.

If she's a big driver as Tim says the rally days are great, I did one as a birthday pressie a few years ago, got there expecting some 4WD overboosted turbo'd monster, and was shown to a Mk2 Escort RS2000, and had one of the best days in a car ever, sideways everywhere!!

Weeksy - cheeky sod - you'll have to get past her (rather scrummy) boyfriend first!:P:lol:

Rallying sounds good - locations to look for? (will she fit behind the wheel/pedals tho - as very short legs & has cushion to drive her golf!!!!)

The rally school I attended had everything from the fully blown Scoobys down to a Vauxhall Nova. - They even did children's lessons, so I imagine they can cope with those vertically-challenged.

I think they do the schools at Brands as well as many circuits, but the most cost effective ones are probably not linked with a race circuit.

In my corporate days I've attended or been offered many different and varied activities, that have included - tank driving, car racing, rallying, clay-pigeon shooting, attending sporting events, foreign trips (Dublin, Paris, Iceland!!!).

Actually I haven't been offered anything in Iceland, but I did hear of a trip there where you stayed in a ice hotel or similar - can't remember the exact details, but sounded really good.

Or how about a skiing trip, or a trip to New York. Or a scuba diving course, or a personal shopper for the day and £500 credit!!

C'mon girl - get creative!!!

Jewellery, a watch or something she can keep more or less forever ?

I was given a (good) watch for my 21st and I've worn it practically every day since (a long time !)

I still enjoy the thought that it was my 21st present
