MS Exchange Restore....
 

OK, probably really simple, I've done literally 100's of these, but hit a bit of a problem, so I will set the scene...

Win2K server, Exchange 5.5, IS needs restoring, previously able to restore to NT4 Server, Exchange 5.5 with reg hack, we use NTBACKUP also.

The problem lies with a new server using SDLT drive, and the NT driver doesn't seem to work, so built a Win2k recovery server, and voila the the tape drive works, installed Exch5.5 and come to restore, catalogs OK, but NTBACKUP won't let me change the restore location to the new server, will only let me restore to the original server...

HELP!

It's OK, I do the same.... and fingers crossed I've sussed it....

I used to know quite a bit about computers but i've lost it completely over the past five years or so. Things have moved on so quickly i'm just so far out of date.

Well it's sorted, restore in progress, but NTBACKUP in 2000 is so un-user friendly, not easy to explain, but unless you click one particular box which doesn't relate to what you're trying to do, you'd never know!

I really know now why i never went into IT.
