single headlamp conversion

Anyone seen info on, or done, a single headlamp conversion ?

I saw a black 916 that used the single original projector headlamp in a carbon nose cone and it looked awesome. Was wondering if anyone else had tried?

You mean something like this?

Nate, Dukerob has this done on his SPS. Am I safe to assume you mean the entire headlamp assembly from one side, or simply the round projector as shown on Felix bike?

It's a simple enough mod, but you need to start with a race fairing and cut the single hole out. Unless you intedn painting the fairing, the area where you have "filled" in the old hole will show.

Thanks guys

Felix - very similar, but it was not quite so far over. Aside from positioning though I would say it was done the same way. Did you use the original projector?

Yeti - Just the round projector. I had planned to get a carbon upper maybe, but if I do it it has to look like a factory job (behind the scenes too)

I had planned to paint a number board on the new cone just like Mr Felix :-)

I am still uncertain as to whether it's worth losing the sidelights/main beam functions but the front end looks so clean with just that little old light in there.

Felix, does that make your race bike road legal then?

gives me a chance to show my bike of again

and the bits underneath

Keefer.. that's it!!

..and boy does it look good :-)

If you don't mind me asking. In the picture of the headlamps without the fairing it would appear that the projector lamp is further back, when viewed with the fairing on the bike the lamp appears flush. How does that work?

Also, did you get a donor set of lamps and a new top fairing so you can change it back for MOT?

The bike really does look awesome.

that head light is not really supposed to be on the road. so I cover it up for the MOT.
I did get a donor head light then cut it in half and finally break of the glass.
Then on the inside of the race fairing you silicone a head light protector so it acts as a lens.

A word of warning though it is a crap light. I never use my bike at night, but you know how things are, I thought I'd better have it there as a get me home if I need it thing

i have done mine but left the full light in just need to send her for some paint
