Winter work planned.....any other suggestions? Finally booked my 748 in for its winter workings, to be done whilst I'm in the US next week. Plan so far is Major Service Head Overhaul (15.5K miles so due for attention) SP Cams & Pistons Dyno setup (FIM chip already fitted) Dependant on the rocker situation I may go 853 as well, but opted to have the cams done during the rest of the headwork to save on labour in the future (and I got a deal on them). Anything else worth considering whilst in there that's not too costly for minimal gains? |
service Hi Mr S are you having your valves lapped in if you are can you let me know if it improves your running. thanks ian |
Mr_S, Looking at your location, I assume the work's going to be done at MotoRapido? I would advise to get your alternator bolt checked, loctited and retorqued. While you're getting that done, may as well throw on a lighter flywheel? Have fun! R X |
a big bank balance :sing: |
Get the cams dialed in while your at it. |
888heaven I am, but not sure if I'll notice the effect with all the other changes. Will report anyway. RickyX Considered that, but the early bikes don't have the bolt issue that the later ones do. Have also considered ditching the flywheel completely (no sensors on it, but could be "fun" at low speeds. rockhopper With cam timing, how much gain for 4-5 hours labour? |
Ask Monty, he had his done on the ST4S last year. Big improvement on standard, especially in smoothness. To be honest if i had £1000 to spend on tuning i'd spend it on a full blue print rather than on any bolt on goodies. |

But I don't :( Got a deal on the cams & pistons (from a donor who had Corse one's fitted) the rest of the work is maintenance. |
I see! But while its all in bits its gotta be worth it! Sent Monty a U2u. I think he had dyno runs as well. |
