Brembo Brakes hardly any corrosion!! Just cleaned out my 748s front calipers, was hoping it would be done at the 6000/12month service but is not on the schedule just the fluid changed, they were covered in baked on dust and the gold rough finish seems hold it on!! But on the hole the pistons and everything were very clean and not much corrsion even after riding through the salt in winter far better that the nissins on my honda. Only the pad retaining pins were really dry so greased them up with some graphite grease along with the pad backs and pistons, no one seems to have any 'brake grease' in any shops. See how much better they feel when i go out next it is freezing out now:o:o |
Hope you didnt use the graphite grease on the pistons.. |

Only put some on the pad backs and top off pistons, as the pads wear the pistons will come away from the seals so shouldn't touch the seals. The pistons were dry before hand is this normal? Bike is a 53 plate and done 4000m's After a ride they feel much better no pad dragging as the pistons return:D but it was freezing!!! [Edited on 23-1-2005 by Lee1980] |
Personally i have never used anything on the pistons, just a bit of coppaslip on the back of the pads. If the rubber seals are working then yes, the pistons should be dry. I should add that i dont really ride on bad weather but i've done the same on cars over many years and never had a problem! |
