Nurburgring I'm sure this has been discussed before many a time, but did anyone watch Clarkson driving round the ring on Sunday on the 'best of Top Gear' programme? Am I right in thinking cars and bikes taking what appeared to be quite different racing lines would be an extremely dangerous place to be on a bike? It seemed huge, overcrowded with cars, and not an appealing prospect in the slightest. I know people who have done it love it. Am I just being cowardly? :o:o |
I know people who have done it love it. Am I just being cowardly? :o:o [/quote] no not at all Ruth!! but it's like everything else it needs to be ridden with some "BIG" respect;) and the ones who do a video run of it and then try and ride it usualy come back without their bike!!!!! or the bike comes back without them;) |
Mav, Are there every bike only sessions / days or is it always mixed ? Rob |
ring Worst time is when you dont know where the track goes. Once you learn the place you enjoy the experience even more. If not your thing , dont do it. Been there loads of times , cars & bikes. But prefer the car around the ring. Doogalman |
Hi Rob well in truth we could Hire it for a "Closed" Track day for a club meeting say ! but very expensive;) and without being pushy thats why it pays to come on an organised trip ! as we know when is a good time to ride it and when it's not! There is a lot of myths about the ring. but likewise ,there is a lot people dont know when they go there, "There is an amount of ettiquete" I have been there a lot ! but in reality i'm probably quicker down a" B" road in WALES;) BUT the Trips i do are about Bikes, Bikers, and having a great time ! The F1 Track is the one to Ride "DER Nurburgring" AWSOME!!!!!;) [Edited on 25-1-2005 by madmav] |
You could always do a Mottorad course. These are (3 day) bikes only course run mainly by the Germans for Germans, but they have 1 or 2 English instructors for the Brits. I haven't done one, but my mate has and basically you get taught sections of the track at a time. They are 'very' (800Euro's +) expensive but you get to stay in the Dorint Hotel at the Ring and ride the F1 GP track (10 laps I think) If you are interested drop Neil Leigh an email info@aeaventures.com - he runs a B&B over the hill from Spa in belgium and is a top bloke and is one of the Mottorad instructors (I'm staying with him when I do SPA this May :-) ) Cheers Glenn |
cant agree more with u ! as i have done it in the past ! and he is a top bloke! Dorint get ya credit cards out !;) |
A truly fantastic experience and should be tried at least once. As for learning the track ? no chance unless you live there 147 bends and most of look the same as Mav said Big Respect. Cars Bikes Vans anything you like you pays your money and takes your turn. The whole place has it own buzz well worth a trip I shall be going again this year if I can.:roll::roll: |
