clutch question

my clutch is making even more of a racket than normal.

I know that the plates and basket are a bit worn, but still within their lifespan, its just a bit noisy.

took it apart a while ago and cleaned it all out, but still a bit clunky. I am wondering if the big nut which (i think, but may be wrong) holds the push rod in may be a bit loose but not certain.

so a question... if bike is in neutral should the bit in the middle be spinning very slowly?

If i pull the clutch in it stops...

Yup, it's in neutral, but the clutch is still spinning off the crank etc, just no gear engaged to drive the engine, when you pull the clutch in your disengaging the clutch pack, so it should slow down, and if you're lucky the pressure plate will stop spinning.

the big nut aint connected to the push rod......but if that is loose............. What makes you think it is?

They are so easy to get apart with the right kit, have it to bits again and check all is well.

just remembered a previous incident when Fred's clutch had a problem and it was the big nut (so to speak :P )

just not certain why its clunking more than usual, unless its all in my imagination.... :o:P
