how to refurbish engine casings
 

Hello,

The engine casings on my 600ss are a lot shabby,

what the best way to clean them up before i paint them , sanding going to be a bugger in the fins ...i 'm getting a compressor soon so could bead or sand blast not sure of the difference at this stage.. Don't mind taking it out of the frame but not going to strip it....

also while i'm here whats the best paint for the job?

Hi Neil....on my old monster, dremel'd all the loose paint of the fins, degreased, and (after masking thoroughly!!) dusted the heads with a can of normal silver spray paint (black was OK) - trick here is not to apply too much.

Lasts well and really improves the look of things ! Here s a pic of it finished (I did get the side casings and hangers professionally painted after stripping them myself, but my mate has just done his M900 himself with nitromors and smoothrite..see link ror UKMOC below).

cheap dremel rip off on enay
 

good idea using the small dremel drills, just looked on ebay they've got non dremel cheapo for around £10, going to try it out as i don't get the compressor till the end of march (birthday pres) soon as it done (don't hold your breath) i'll post some pics....now wheres my paypal account.....
