Pinlock V Fogcity V something else ... I've had a fog city on the the clear visor for my Arai but it's worn and makes it difficult to see through now. I think it was 'cleaned' by someone .... I've heard the pinlock system is better than the fogcity but don't know anyone who actually has one. What about those respro masks? I'd be especially interested in what the racers here do. |
I have a pinlock in my Shoei. Very simple, works well and it's easy to snap the insert in or out. Does exactly what it says on the tin. I used to use one of those 'foggy' neoprene masks. That also worked well to stop the misting but the way they attach is with double sided adhesive onto the chinpiece and velcro tabs that stick to the fabric of the lids cheekpads. They need to be positioned really carefully to be comfortable and the velcro on the side pieces often slips as you put the lid on or take it off. After a while of repositioning the velcro it makes the fabric of the cheek pad turn all fuzzy...Oh...and then there's the doeble sided sticky stuff that holds the front of the mask to the chinpiece. After a while it loses it's tack, then one warm day, you'll find it gives up - leaving a real gooey mess behind. My lid came with the pinlock stuff as standard, but I think you can get kits to add them to any visor [Edited on 18-2-2005 by Jools] |
Pinlock is good. Got it on my Shoei. There's a previous thread discussing merits http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread...2775#pid109305 |
Ahh, thanks guys. I've seen the kits atThe Visor Shop and thought they looked a bit interesting. Was also thinking about one of those foggy masks .. |
I have a fog city hyper optics colour thingy (the one that changes colour according to the light levels) in my shoei, as well as a respro guard...a bit over kill...but a great combination. Never ever misted up the visor even a little yet on the wettest/coldest of days, and the visor is road legal, yet very good at reducing glare. Apparently a lot of the top racers use the respro guards. Could be useful when you breathing becomes somewhat heavy on that first startline TP:roll: |

 thats what I was thinking. I was actually more worried about when I'm p!ssing myself laughing when we all go diving into the first corner at Cadwell! |
Never tried Pinlock as I have always used Fog city. Tottaly happy with the product but they do need scrapping once they get marked. Rgds, Rob |
Wear a shoei at work all day with the pinlock visor. Good, works well particularly during these colder times, however, the surround part of the visor that aint under the pinlock does moisture up and you have to keep wiping it! |

Well thanks guys, I bought a Foggy mask and I've replaced my clear visor with another fitted with pinlock. When I get my next helmet I think I'll fit it with pinlock as well. Depending on how this clear one goes. But the next helmet is the one I'll race in. |
Had both recently and would say the pinlock is definetly better than the fog city. Very easy to snap in and out. |
