Rip Off Britain

Just ordered some bits for my French built aircraft from the Dutch distrubuter, the manufacturers are refusing to supply him parts for a UK registered aircraft contrary to all EU competition practices. Prices from the UK distributer are at least 50% higher than ANY other european distributor!

Now, browsing through an old copy of MCN I see the following:

MotoGP test - Catalunya. March 19-29
Entry - FREE

World Superbike test - Valencia. March 12-13
Entry - FREE

BRITISH Superbike test - Donington. March 13
Entry - TEN Pounds (estimate)

Barstewards, is it any wonder this copuntry os going to the dogs?

Think I'm gonna go live in Spain.........

bradders 19-Feb-2005 12:14

just about to order some bits from the states....bar risers for £80 less than UK and radial m/c £100 less------says it all really!

Dont forget youll need to add the import tax............... The couriers now police the import tax, plus they add an admin charge on for doing it! :barfy:

bradders 19-Feb-2005 12:38

still well short of UK price - even with p&p, tax and all, will save at least £90 on £280 purchase, means I can get both rather than 1 thing.

I love the internet!!

I totally agree with Yeti here! It wouldnt be so bad if we didnt have to pay for all the bludgers and parasites! (and im not talking about any imigration policy here!)

Bradders - check out an old post on Ebay tricks for importing stuff....

Getting someone to write on the parcel (if they are up for it) "Replacement parts under warrenty" usually results in ZERO import duty.

I think a similar trick might work for a gift but cant remember.

Dibbs !!! Cant believe you wrote that....

So you are happy paying VAT, petrol duty, stamp duty...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc !!!!!
