Shipping/Posting Overseas

Anyone found a cheap service for international shipments? Recent ebaying has opened my eyes to the cost of international carriage.

So far, www.parcel2go.com seem the best iI can fine as I haven't got an account deal with a major carrier.

Otherwise, for 25kilos to the USA, I'm looking at at least £60 and that's enough to put buyers right off.

Rgds, Rob

Where the hell have you found a courier that'll ship 25Kg to the US for £60?

Got some stuff to send Stateside myself.

Cheers, Neil

www.parcel2go.com

DHL/GermanPost company. Used em for Germany too. Cheap as chips for the UK.

Holy moly! They are cheap!

Only problem is the box is bigger than they allow without a surcharge.:( Guess I'll call and see what they've got to say.

Thanks again, Neil.

Ah, this is what has caused me to look about. My packed weight less than 5 kilos but it's 5.1 cubic feet (a ducati side panel for an 851) P2G said it works out as an equivilant volume/weight of 24.1 kilos, thus my £60 to the States. Give them a call, I expect that they will tell you to take the next weight break, e.g. up to 70kilos, £129. Seems expensive but ParcelFarce wanted over £220 to ship two of my boxes.

Spot on Rob, £129.99 it is.

Only £68 with Parcel Force though.

Rob B 26-Feb-2005 08:50

Neil,

How did you get PFance to do it for £68, really small box?

neil748r 26-Feb-2005 09:52

Not a small box at all Rob, sending 2 side panels, a nose cone and a bellypan.

For USA: Max weight 30Kg, Max length 1.5m, Max length & girth combined 2.75m.

My box is right on the limit size wise give or take a couple of cm, so unless I'm unlucky and get a right jobsworth collecting it I should be OK.

I have had to "rework" the box so it's as small as I could make it and still fit everything in. Used about 2 rolls of parcel tape though!

Cheers, Neil

To be honest, I am really unhappy about the risks of sending £100's of bits via some dodgy shippers and getting a call from the buyer to say a new panel, no longer available from Duc, is cracked.

Happened to pass a couriers van yesterday, back doors open, boxes all over the place, some corner on to sides of others. Looked like damage city!!

neil748r 26-Feb-2005 12:51

Yeah, I'm with you on that one Rob. That Horlicks advert is probably pretty close to the truth!

I've sent bodywork to the US before with Parcel Force, never been a problem. I do always insure it to the hilt though just in case.

Cheers, Neil
