Gearing for Cadwell?

Got Cadwell next weekend and was thinking about the gearing for that track.
First time out on the 748 so not really up on what it needs to be running.
Got 14/40 on at the moment and I have a selection of sprockets to go with so it will be easy enough to alter on the day but just wondered what other people ran there?

Bikes has a 748 SP engine if that helps?

I have the spreadsheet for the gearing but wondered if peeps have a preference?

I run 15/50 but that's with a slightly different engine to yours. At a guess, you'll get to 160 MPH down park straight on the 748SP as long as get Charlies 2 right. Use that speed and suit gearing to hit a couple hunderd RPM below the redline. Also turn up the idle to about 2500 RPM. No reason why you can't hit 1:45ish with that.

Cheers Felix, will sort the spreadsheet tonight.

15-50 Jeez thats big.
You running a Corse swingarm as well?
Your chain must be 118 links long?

See you at Croft in April?

Felix 02-Mar-2005 12:19

Oops, make that 15-40.

Cadwell, is currently under 4-6 inches of snow.

gearing might be the least of your problems!!

A car rally got cancelled there last weekend, I'm supposed to be there this Friday on a car day.:o

Ray.

It should be clear by the 12th, if not I reckon gear it for 16mph on the straight!!
