Sponsorship

Hi everybody,

The more we're closer to the beginning of the races, the less I have some money. I will have to pay my entrance fees to New Era at the beginning of next month, hope it will be ok.

So my question is : would someone have some advice for me to find some sponsorship ? I think I have to write a file for this, but I have no idea of what to put in it.

I have no race experience... I am French... Well, just disadvantages :D

Any help will be very appreciated.

Regards,
Tonio

It is ok to post date the race entry fee cheques .....if that helps..?? I post dated mine for 2 weeks before each race.

Being French could be an advantage, how many other French riders are in DD?

It would be like a woman entering (I'm not saying women cannot enter, so don't give me all the women's lib garb!), but I'd imagine a woman would find sponsorship far more easily than a man in a male dominated sport...

Good for PR etc

I have partial sponsorship...it all helps but still a very expensive hobby..

Targeting the right dealer or company that has a vested interest in Ducati's was my approach....a company that would benifit in some way directly by having there name associatted in a small way with the desmo Due.

Tonio

I spent many years trying to get sponsorship and wasn't bad at it considering it was not a well known sport etc. I actually managed to get a car at one point.

If you need some help on building a portfolio etc then drop me a u2u.

Write letters, lots of letters.
If you send out a hundred letters and only only get one positive reply, it's worth it.

Highlight that it's a high profile series which should be covered in the national motorcycle press, that there's a guest bike at every round likely to have a big name rider or jounalist on board, they'll be named in the race programme etc... and take up Lily's offer to help you put it in writing.

My team has had to scrounge sponsorship, and we've got some results.
There's nothing to lose other than a few postage stamps!

Thx all for your advice :)
I am starting to write some stuff.
I'll ask Lily's help (thx very much Lily) and advice when I'll send her some stuff.

Last thing, what does it mean :

"i wouldn't hold your breath" ???

JPM 04-Mar-2005 12:24

It means don't count on getting any sponsorship however hard you try
