its oh so quiet.... got the stadard cans on at the mo, for mot, and god its QUIET! Leads me to belive (altho I kinda knew anyway) that termis need re-packing. Is this easy to do? Mate recons just remove rivets, bang in some new packing and re-rivet, simpple. Whaddya think? |
yes it nearly that simple. as long as you get a good packing kit. i.e pucka termy kit, as it comes with all the mesh and wadding required. then as you mentioned. drill of the rivets whip out the packing and whack it all back together using some wire to hold the new wadding in place [Edited on 6-3-2005 by keefer] |
Hello, I am not sure but when I blimp the throttle sounds like I have a small metal screw in one of the end pipes. would it be safe to say "Theres the sign" regards TopiToo |
Keefer's covered the repacking process, so... TopiToo, take the silencer off and shake it! |
if you have the end cans of the bike, you can tip them up one way then the other. And if they make a sound like a kaleidoscope (sounds like sand inside) then it would be a good idea to investigate further. also look for hot spots or burns. I was once told by a dealer that they should be repacked every season, sounds a bit much to me but just bear it in mind |

could also be a loose rivet |
Hello, I am thinking it must be a rivet which must mean something amiss, thanks for the the advice NickB34 and Keefer, will look into it. Bradders if possible let me know how you get on, may well be looking at doing the same "need re-packing" regards TopiToo |
cool...now to find a re-pack kit.... [Edited on 6-3-2005 by bradders] |
