Multistrada mini test in MCN

There's a brief test on the 1000s Multistrada in this weeks MCN. The tester says that the Ohlins suspension is not required and not worth having for the extra money.
Is he right or missing the point?

can't say that I thought there was anything wrong when I had a ride on one - but we all like a bit of Ohlins and carbon fibre:D
