Electrical problems.......help. OK so while I was cleaning the bike I noticed the two yellow cables from the stator to the regulator had been very very naughty. Does anyone know of a good replacement for this plug. I'm glad it's not taxed or i'd have been out on it. |

Solder them together :) If I remember right the plugs the problem, although the gauge of the wires could be increased too. [Edited on 14-3-2005 by Mr_S] |
The gauge of the cable running from the alternator is a little low. It's possible to rewire this with heavier gauge but means the LHS engine cover needs to come off. My preferred method of repair is to cut the cable back to good, and fit and crimp bullet connectors on. Apply electrolytic grease, connect and wrap in tape. Soldering is all well and good, but it makes servicing a pain in the **** because you can't get the regulator/battery tray out of the way to do the belts etc. properly. It just hangs there and get's in the way :flame: Not a big problem................but have a thought for your mechanic :( :frog: |
Ooops, sorry Neil.. |
You could also try Electrex world, they do all the replacment connector blocks. Hav`nt got a number but a search should give their website with all the contact details.:sing: |
Connectors The attached do a good range of connectors (including the Ducati type). They have a connector rated at 75amps on page 19 that should suit your needs (it is designed for large cables but would be suitable) http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.u...atalogue_3.pdf |
Thanks lads. I'm a leccy so i'll sort it one way or another. |
