REMOVING THE OIL FILTER

Please can someone enlighten me as how the internal oil filter is removed on a 2002 748?

Not the screw on cartridge

The pictures in the haynes manual are different to the pictures in the ducati parts list.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's in the same place but hiding behind the "plug" with a 14mm hex drive.
Unscrew the plug then using the same allen key or socket bit unscrew the filter.

Its the largish hex head/plug on the RHS of the bike, near the bottom of the casing.

Undo, and there is a wire guaze tube inside which either:

a) comes out nice and easy with the plug or
b) needs an allen key to undo a small retaining bolt inside before removal

...as mine came out with the plug, I can't tell you what size the allen key is needed if you have that type!

Sure nelly et al will be along in a mo to tell you...

Well what do you know...speak of the devil:lol:

The problem is that it is Bl**dy tight then as is would not inscrew

Thanks for the quick replies

Are we talking the small "brass" coloured alllen key bolt underneath the large hex bolt?

There's a bit of info here from when I changed my oil and filter a while ago:
