crank case breather.

this has always wept a bit of oil but when I put it all back together and fired it up the other day it seems to be doing it more than usual. is there a o ring inside or some sort of gasket that can be replaced. or is it a case of changing the whole thing ?

That's not oil weeping, Keith. That's tears of joy from your bike at the thought that you might be taking it out after its long winter hybernation!:devil::devil:

There's a flay alloy washer, similar to the sump plug, that's supposed to seal the breather..................
Coat it with RTV sealant before screwing it back in and it should stop the weeping.
Sometimes though the oil leaks out of the breather itself. The alloy outer is crimped on to the plastic base.
Later bikes had an all plastic one and I think that uses an o-ring to seal. Could swap over to ones of those or fit a nice alloy one

ok Nelly that's what I was thinking.
the one on there has probably been there all the bikes life, so if I want to go for the newer style or alloy one what's the cost ?

Not sure on the later OE type but the STM ones are about £50+vat
