Chain guard - do we need for ACU regs?
 

I know we need the lower protector (under the swingingarm) but do we need a the chainguard that goes along the top of the chain?

What I understand it you need a guard at the two points where the chain approaches the sprockets... so the front sprocket needs to be protected,as does the bottom of the back sprocket, but not the top of the back sprocket.

1.7.8 The Following Items MAY BE Removed

Chain guard as long as it is not incorporated in the rear fender.

I've been wondering about this rule,
now is the rear fender the hugger, if that is the case then the 600SS does not incorporate a chain gaurd with it where as the Monster 600 does

But why do I need a rear fender? I assume (like you) that this means hugger????

I've got that one sorted, but do I need a guard above the chain was the question?

The monster's chain guard is fitted as part of the hugger, can I remove the hugger and chain guard, or do I need both??

I did - the response I got from MW was;
